Happy New Year Hive! Unlike other years where I start the year with many expectations and targets, this year will be a lot different as I'll be doing my best I can not think about short-term targets but more long-term ones.

The primary plan is to have a stream of income in a few weeks and work on getting other streams along the way. I've been sending out applications and nagging for so long that I think I now sound like a broken record.

Towards the end of the year, a few people told me I was probably going about my job search all wrong. They advised that I go directly to people and ask for jobs because people mostly get jobs through recommendations.

So for the last couple of days, I've been playing all my cards and hoping for the best. I've texted all the designers I have on my contact and I've begun the conversation.

I felt a little bad having to talk to people because I never want to feel indebted to anyone. However, with the current state of things, turns out I don't have much of a choice anymore.

I feel like the moment this goal is achieved, I'll be in a much better position to make other plans like going on vacations this Christmas.

I want to live a full life and I hate to admit that feeling empty these past couple of months has done a number on my self-confidence.

Unachieved goals of last year

I had the goal of making at least $5,000 last year but I ended the year with a little over $500. I felt let down by life when I saw my balance drop drastically. I never thought I could feel as bad as I did last year and I gradually crept into depression.

I planned on going back to reading books but with the way reality hit me, I couldn't find the mental energy to read a single book. I felt too tired to focus on anything that wouldn't give me immediate gratification. My reality was already hard enough.

I can't remember any other goal I had but I'm pretty sure it got lost in the hustle and trials of last year.

If I had 2023 goals

Asides from getting a job, if I had any other goal for this year, it would be to travel. I would love to travel somewhere by the end of this year or even within the year.

I would also love to move into my own house for a change. I have no issue living with my family at the moment but I'm turning 25 this year. I need to reach a certain level of maturity.

Finally, I would love to do something really special for everyone I love. The list got cut a little shorter last year after a series of events so I guess planning to do something nice for the few that remain should be a lot easier now.

I don't know how this year will go but I have a good feeling about it and I'm staying hopeful.

Thanks for reading.
