Doing my little bit to fix the part of the system I can fix...

Yesterday, I decided to speak to a group of friends about Hive.

One of them has been on Hive for a while and posts once in a lot of weeks, another is a radio presenter who barely has the time or phone to be on social media and the other one was a young guy who seemed really eager to know more. The Nigerian system is hard on young men. A lot harder than it is on ladies, so I can understand where his eagerness stems from. H needs to figure things out before it gets late. However, I found a flaw in his eagerness that made me quite sceptical about the outcome of our conversation.

Although he seemed rather eager and ready to take up the tasks, he seemed really one-track-minded about the entire process required and growth.

Normally, when I tell people about Hive, I always tell them to use it as social media first, before thinking about making some money out of it. This way, they can fall in love with the system here and learn how things work, and then add some coins to their bags.

I further advise that they stack. You're already on another social media posting for no pay, so coming on Hive where you post and get paid should not make you overzealous and greedy.

Usually, the response I get is "there's no money, so when I make it, I have to spend it". My response is, "wouldn't you rather make more?"

A lot of people are the perfect definition of the cliche phrase "penny wise, pound foolish" and you see it, smell it and hear it in everything that they do.

I've been there, so I know. Unlike right now that I earn relatively okay from my posts, there was a time I would make some money from a post, wait for 7 days and withdraw it. I needed the money, no doubt, but I could have been smarter. I used the money I earned here to fund my activities on other social media. I wish I could smack myself on the head right now.

I guess this is where patience comes in. I have to learn to be patient with people so they can learn the way I'm learning. Maybe this is just the time for them to earn and dilly-dally with their earnings the way I did.

The crazy thing is, I consider this to be upcoming stress because they're going to eventually fall back on me to help them get their funds out of Hive and right now, I don't do that for myself so why onboard people who are just going to stress me for a $1 reward.

Currently, I don't have the time for anything other than my personal activities. I'm still adding other things to make the system better, by handling the @Hive-naija community, but there's more I have to do.

Thanks to @taskmaster4450 I've added the goal of making Hivenaija trend on Twitter this year and that's going to take a lot of my time and patience. I'll work with other members of the community by deciding what exactly we have to do and what it will take.

I'm pleased that the majority of the top Nigerians here have an interest in this same subject so it'll be a fun journey. I look forward to it.
