I got into a conversation with someone about cryptocurrency and I have to admit that I was disappointed. Well, I had two conversations. One is a friend who has been on my case to teach him how to buy a few coins through the Binance exchange. He just got married and he feels it would be a great idea to hodl a few coins with some part of the money he got from his wedding.

I initially intended on gifting him some Hive as a wedding present, but I had a change of heart. I figured it's a wedding, so I might as well just send some money to his account instead.

I hope I have the right insight on the best coin to invest in currently. I'll do some research beforehand to be on the safe side.

Anyways, the other conversation I had wasn't so positive. I expected better honestly. But you know, certain levels of financial education are not meant for everyone.

So, this guy who invested in a cooperative scheme that has obviously crashed told me he believes he'll be getting his money back. He said the co-operative only went on a break for 6 months and they'll be back with an extra bonus on his money.

I was intrigued by such ignorance so I urged him to keep going. He said he knew he would get paid and I would be around to get a big fat "I TOLD YOU SO!" when he gets his paycheck. I said I look forward to it.

I see no reason why anyone would be confident that someone holding their money would disappear for over 6 months and think they'll get it back. I mean, imagine if a popular bank decides to just take a break from all banking activities for even a week. There would be chaos. People would scream bloody murder.

Yet, here we have a society with people these gullible.

Anyways, this same individual told me he's about to start learning how to trade through Forex and insists that I'll be investing my money through him.

This got me laughing. So, I told him I no longer give my money to anyone to invest for me. I'm clicking buttons and handling my finance myself.

I then told him I earn crypto through writing. That's when he gives a sad story about how he invested in crypto and lost all his money.

At that point, I asked why in the world he would tell me he lost money from crypto and think I would want to trust him to handle my money through forex.

A lot of people are uninformed and not aware that they're uninformed. Apparently, he invested during the recent bull run and rather than pay attention, he went to bed expecting a constant upward movement, just to wake up and see his money drop by thousands.

A similar thing happened to me. But here's the difference; I knew when I had messed up and I knew I made a mistake.

I also obeyed the first rule of investing - NEVER USE MONEY YOU HAVE IMMEDIATE USE OF. This saves heartache and stress.

Although I made a mistake, I'm not entirely held back or deprived of anything by my mistake.

A lot of financial education is needed. Even I have a lot to learn. However, I feel like I have some things to teach too.

"To whom much is give, much is expected."

This individual is going to get rekt again and I can't feel bad for them. There are many like him. There will be more like him.
