My Goals for 2022!

A new year has dawned. This is not a new-year resolution, because we all know that without a plan these things do not work.

I am not saying that you should not make a resolution, but I also have something against waiting for the end of the year/start of the new year to begin doing something or to stop doing something.

That said, I have become a bit of a procrastinator. It is easy to see going back in time on the blockchain that 3+ years ago I was more active, even if it was only my Journal.

Now that Hive is out and I have discovered it, I can see that with the invention of Communities and a personal Blog space, I could easily continue with Journal entries. I fear that this will be too much work for me to get to. Real-life has placed a lot of demands on my time and I do not think that I will do much else if I try to do a daily journal right now.

But stats are cool. It is nice to have goals and see how your account grows and see what you are doing in order to achieve them.

I think a weekly stats update is more than enough granular data for me to layout and gives a good enough analysis of what is going on. I do this to motivate myself as well as others who go through similar stages.

But there is one big twist to my stats page and goals: I have a family to plan for!

Goals for the Family and Motivation

My partner @clairemobey joined Hive and made her introductory post here and I created #splinterlands accounts for my kids as explained here.

It is my belief that given the right education on the blockchain, the three kids can build themselves great networks and learn a lot and earn a lot by posting on hive, creating content, and playing #splinterlands. I will be assisting @clairemobey and the kids to obtain their next step goals. Even if we meet them, we will look at a new goal after that.

The idea however is to never over-reach a goal so you can remain motivated. Yes, we all would love to have millions of HIVE, but goals should be achievable.

Especially in my case, where I struggle with a bit of self-motivation, it will be important for me to look at the smaller benchmarks and put one foot in front of the other.

Hive Goals

At the time of writing the family, HP stands at: @zakludick - 313.365 @clairemobey - 8.343 @aimeludick - 0.000 (Though effectively it will be 1.000 after I power up what is in her wallet) @merenludick - 1.006 @matthew-williams 0.000 (He will also be on 1.000 once powered up)

The kids all received 1 HP each and a 10 HP delegation from @wesphilbin to get them started! Thank you so much again for that!

Goals

@zakludick must aim for 500 HP. But I will be looking at benchmarks of 325/350/375/400 and so on till I get there.

As for @clairemobey and the kids, the first 10 HP always seems to be the toughest to earn! Their goals will all be 10/20/30/40 and 50 for now.

I recommended to them and I do to all new people on Hive to focus on powering up that account to 50 HP as soon as possible. Indeed, if you can afford it, then buy the HIVE needed to get there!

I will tabulate these stats in my next post. Of course, the kids need to get their introductory posts done and their journeys begun.

Splinterlands Goals

So I am back in on #splinterlands in a big way. I am in a Guild, the SCU Warriors and Brawls are going well!

I have a collection of 254,445 CP which is in 569 cards at the time of writing.

I was renting out a lot of my cards at a decent profit but due to Choas Legion being launched, the game is going through a time of card abundance and cards are easy to come by, people are also scrabbling to find themselves in the new meta of the game.

Because of this, I think that it will be beneficial to rent out less of my cards and begin competing at a higher league. I was always competing up to Silver II because of my rentals but I think I shall move this up to Silver I and keep it there due to the limitations of my summoners.

I will then be focussing on building maxed out Silver decks for both Modern and Wild formats.

I managed to get 2x copies of Quix the Devious in my card packs so I bought a third and have a decent Chaos Legion Summoner able to summon maxed out Silver League cards. My plan is to max out a few Dragon cards to match him and then start with the Water Splinter.

I do like having a little more than standard cards in all my splinters but I will need to focus on maxing out a splinter at a time.

@merenludick also has his own #splinterlands goals. He has 330 CP as far as I know and wants that 1000 CP to get into Bronze II. He does want to get into Silver as well though and he is quite capable of battling there as I sometimes hand him my account to grind with.

I pay him 50% of the difference in DEC before and after he sits and games. My own little Splinterlands Scholar. It is not the first time Meren has helped me grind for resources in a game but this is the first time these resources cost actual money!

My goal is to keep 100,000 DEC in my Splinterlands account to boost my SPS airdrop. I am a bit behind because of a recent spending spree. I have 87,252 DEC at the moment.

I also managed to get myself 6,484 SPS, my goal here is to get 10,000 SPS minimum that I will keep staked. SPS is a DAO and the future is looking great in terms of SPS. It is still very cheap, for now, and I need to acquire as much of it as I can!

Goals for #splinterlands will also become more tabulated in the future. If you do not already play Splinterlands, you should! Sign up here

Financial Goals

On the 1st of December @clairemobey and I moved in together. We have our 3 kids to look after and things are starting to look good for us on the financial side because of the saving in rental that the move causes.

Both of us do have our debts to sort out, a result of the sum of various factors: the Covid-19 pandemic has burned financial holes in many pockets, both of us had gone through divorces and these things affect us for years afterward and the move itself caused me to take out a loan in order to secure the deposit on the new place.

With the saving in rental, this will balance out and I won't be coy in suggesting that with Hive, Splinterlands, and their associated cryptocurrencies and NFTs that I won't be looking at using all of it to help me financially!

It seems like a touchy subject as always. People love speaking about the big accounts making the big money but do not like it when smaller accounts are using the ecosystem to make money. I think that this is born from the fact that there are people that exist on the blockchain that contribute little and take out value from the platform.

But I think that this goal of mine is actually extremely awesome! That I can say that Hive and Splinterlands allowed me to pay off my debts and pave the way to a strong financial future!

This is why a weekly status and goal report will come in handy. I have more goals, but let me not make this post too long-winded.

In short, I would love to onboard more people to Hive. Locally and internationally. How else can I teach or tell them anything or motivate them if I have not done it myself?

I also need to be able to show them @clairemobey's account as an adult starting out late in 2021 on Hive and the three kids all starting effectively in 2022 and what rewards their actions reap.

#ecency is a great front end with their reward on engagement and with their mobile app, I foresee a good ability to onboard some other social media people to the ecosystem.

@merenludick will probably be doing a lot of gaming. @aimeludick will be doing art and anime as well as possibly minting her own NFTs

I am not sure yet what @matthew-williams will be doing. He is the youngest and I will be getting him to read a lot more in 2022. All his posts will pretty much be assisted. He will probably get into Splinterlands as well. Why not?

Right. That is enough for me.

There are SOME goals. Not too many. Not too little. Enough to look at the future and say that I have a plan in mind and that every action I take on the blockchain and on the game will take me forward to that goal.

Once I start obtaining some of these goals I can look at the next step, whenever I get there.

Cheers all!

Zak Ludick
