The team behind blockchain game Chainbreakers has decided to postpone its auction for their game and all additional assets until July 15th, because of the global crisis caused by COVID-19. Until that time the team will keep working on the game, while adding value through for example partnerships.

"If we receive a high quality offer prior to that date, we will communicate it with the auction participants and we will consider to close a deal", the developer posted on Twitter. The current team and the community supposedly want development to continue as soon as possible.

Early March the team announced they would be selling their blockchain-powered strategy role playing game to the highest bidder. The team failed to find an investor and ran into too many problems. At first the developers planned the auction on March 30th. They already delayed this first effort to late April. Now, because of the Coronovirus, they postponed the auction until July 15th.

The Chainbreakers franchise has been strategically build up over the past two years. The team has curated an awesome community of over 2000 members which has a very good reputation in the blockchain gaming ecosystem. After spending more than twice the money that was raised and having failed at finding a VC investor, we are forced to handover the project to a new team.

Press release, March 3rd 2020

What is Chainbreakers?

Chainbreakers is a strategy role playing game that integrates cryptocurrencies and digital game assets. Players earn rewards by actively playing the game and strategically develop their assets. While the backend runs on the Ethereum blockchain with Solidity smart contracts, the game’s virtual reality front-end will be accessed from the Decentraland metaverse.

Quest areas will be deployed around the Decentraland metaverse. This means that players need to travel as the story line progresses. Chainbreakers owns land, but would also be renting land from land investors by setting up a revenue share business model.
