To celebrate Weed Day on the 20th of April the developers of Ethermon and Flowerpatch have partnered up to hide a rare Ethermon creature in between the cannabis fields of Flowerpatch. Players can find a creature called Cannubis inside gift packages or they can buy the creature until April 30th from the official Ethermon store. The developers announced the partnership through their official blog on Medium.

Cannubis is known as the Phantom Leaf, this perennial pup travelled from the distant lands of Flowerpatch, where he served as a vigilant protector from pests. This perennial pup can be fetched from the ether at the high time of the year.

When players find Cannubis inside Flowerpatch, they can only use him inside Ethermon. Besides being a present, the purple critter has no further use in the farming simulation. Inside Ethermon Cannubis first evolves into Keefo, and his final stage is Duwat. The references to cannabis couldn't be more evident.

What is Flowerpatch?

In Flowerpatch users need to plant small seeds. Within two hours these will grow into full plants. Together with an adjacent plant, a new seed can be created. Breeding costs ETH, a part of the money goes to the developers while a small portion goes to the owner of the other plant. The more rare a plant is, the more valuable it will become.

The game is build on the Ethereum blockchain and each flower is an ERC-721 token. Flowerpatch is completely playable in any web browser that supports web 3.0 functions, either native or through a third party extension.

Higher education

Flowerpatch is a bit of an odd duckling in the world of blockchain games. Growing weed isn't the type of thing you would expect. On top of that gameplay isn't very active. However, game studio Nugbase did secure a partnership with a major university. The game studio is now part of the Berkeley University blockchain accelerator program.

For Nugbase this is a major partnership for networking. While the university will be using the studio's knowledge for its education program.
