Judge Calls For An End To Statewide Restrictions in Oregon

A Baker County judge has recently tossed the statewide Oregon coronavirus restrictions out, ruling that they are null and void. And Gov. Brown is already appealing that ruling.

The Judge, M Shirtcliff, gave the ruling in response to a lawsuit that was filed by several churches in Oregon.

The churches were arguing that the state's rules on social distancing were unconstitutional.

Lawmakers in other parts of the United States have already deemed similar restrictions to be unconstitutional as well. In Wisconsin their Supreme Court just recently came to the same conclusion, that these restrictions on movement and business etc are unjust.

The governor moved to file the appeal within hours, asking for an emergency review on the decision by the Oregon Supreme Court.

Some of those churches who were behind the initial lawsuit say that they are still going to wait before opening their doors just yet. They want an answer from the Oregon Supreme Court.

Despite the confusion on what to do moving forward, Oregon has already started to reopen for business as well, along with many other regions now. But there could still be many unnecessary and harmful restrictions placed on businesses and individuals for some time yet because of the virus. At least until more Supreme Court rulings deem them unconstitutional and ultimately null and void.
