Are you complaining about the Price of Steem? (Or) are you buying?

Steem has hardly been lower in value, since I entered the platform, over 2 years ago. In fact, when I just arrived as a crypto noob, one Steem was worth around 5 times more than its current worth: $1,70 versus $0.35.

As you can see in the above screenshot, taken from my phone, I added almost 1000 STEEM to my wallet today and then powered up. This is not a small thing for me to do. It was a 35% increase of my Steem portfolio. Now let me explain why I did this and where it's all coming from:

In November 2017, after half a year of struggling to make it on the platform and to stay there ( and in an attempt to get out of the depressed and struggling-to-survive mode that I had adapted in life ), I started to seriously give writing and cryptoblogging a go.

Bull market

Soon afterwards, the 2017 bull market started to gain full force and I saw Steem reach over 7 dollars ( 20 times it's current worth! ).

I even had a single post make 134 Steem Dollar ( at a time when one Steem Dollar was worth almost 8 dollars ). Let's be honest, that particular writeup was not that special. I had been on a writing streak ( in fact, that was exactly what the series was about - consistency ) and I was lucky enough to be picked up by Curie. Back then, a curie vote was worth gold and gold was still worth a lot.

After hitting the crypto jackpot and learning that I could actually take out my Steem ( dollars ) and change them into other crypto and / or fiat money, temporary greed overtook me. My eyes changed into Euro signs and I spent loads of energy and time on trying to setup an account on a crypto exchange. While waiting for my account to be verified - a process that took a day or two and stressed me out - the price of Steem and Steem Dollar went down quickly.

I don't remember what exactly happened to that money. I managed to get some out and exchange part of the money that I made on that post for another crypto coin or two.

Bear market

Although the market crashed soon afterwards and I never got close to making that amount of money on one single post, this 'jackpot' moment and a bunch of smaller ones, made me go all-in in crypto. And - soon afterwards- it gave me the courage and believe that I could change my life around and leave the country, while supporting myself with crypto currency.

The crypto market and Steem reached what seems to be a bottom, last December and - instead of looking for a job, being negative and turning my back towards it - I invested a bunch of money into all kinds of cryptos ( Steem included ).

Another Bull market?

That seems to have been a wise decision as - since that moment in time - the total crypto coinmarket has tripled in value. It's still way below the late 2017 / early 2018 high but I have no doubt that - in the near future - we will be surpassing it and leaving that current record far behind.

Stop complaining and start Investing

Today I bought more Steem. I actually had to sell a piece of Bitcoin for it, an investment that I really try not to touch, if I can. The fact that I'm selling some, and am changing it into Steem, tells you enough though:

I find this place worth investing in. In fact, I have totally changed my mindset lately and the market low has definitely made it easier for me.

Everything is dirt cheap now. In the long term, most coins, especially the top ones, go up ( then they go down again ) and then up even more. At least, if we keep believing in and investing in this market, in what I believe to be our future.

This morning I checked into steem-engine and found out, to my surprise that I had received hundreds of free coins, an airdrop of Steem Leo. I am so grateful for all the abundance that is coming my way these days. It truly is amazing and inspired me to write this post and make some coins while doing so.

I am a 37 year old guy, who's lucky enough to have his own little house in Portugal, since last year. I don't have a family to support. That doesn't mean that I've had an easy life, believe me. Over a decade of struggling and innumerous choices lead me to where I am today. Two years spent on the blockchain have changed my life 180 degrees and I feel it's only the beginning...

(Almost) All-in in crypto

Although I still have some money in FIAT, on a bank account, 95% of my total money is invested in crypto currencies. The mere reason that I still have FIAT money is that I've got some bills to pay and it's impossible to spend crypto in my local cafe/ restaurant in this tiny village in Portugal where I'm currently located.

To get back to the title of this post. When the price of a coin is low, it's an excellent opportunity to buy more of it, to invest. If, of course, you believe in that coin. And if you don't, why would you still be here? I don't want to be harsh here, that's not me but, if we really believe in something, we need to invest in it: time, energy and money ( if we can ).

Onwards and upwards! :>)
