About five hours ago, @dapplr has announced that they have released the Alpha version of their much-awaited decentralized app *(Dapp) on Android, and I am one of the few people who got the chance to test out the Dapplr Dapp on the Hive blockchain. To those who are not familiar with Dapplr**, it is an Instagram-like Dapp but upon testing it, it is more than just Instagram. Now on its Alpha-release, they allowed some users to test the Dapp and asked those users to provide feedback on their Discord channel.

So what do I think about Dapplr?

I will show some screenshots and tell you something about them and why I think Dapplr is the bomb!

The HOME screen provides the post feed of the people that you follow. The interface provides buttons for the actions you can do on a post - upvote, comment, and/or gift. On top, it has the notification icon which of course when clicked, shows the notifications for your account. It also has another button on top, which is a quick access to the post feed of all the communities you are subscribed to. What a great way to bring them all together in one screen. But there's more!

The first screenshot of the *HOME screen shows the feed in a BLOG view mode. On the top-right side of the screen, you can even change it into a LIST mode, like what is shown in the image above. I think it is a great idea to put the thumbnails at the right side of the post.

Beside the *HOME button is the magnifying glass icon, which is a standard icon for SEARCH. When you clicked on it, the screen will default to the TRENDING page of all topics. Using the search bar above will allow you to search for particular tags and navigate to the TRENDING, HOT, or RECENT posts related to the tag you queried.

The third icon is the PLUS ("+") sign which allows you to add a post to your Hive account. Initially, I thought Dapplr will be a "media-only" posting Dapp. I was wrong, it is actually a full-pledged blogging app (EDITOR mode) which allows you to post as you would on the Hive.Blog interface. But then, it also has that MEDIA mode which primarily focus on your photo or video content.

I published my first Dapplr post of the morning sky view from our house this morning, using the *MEDIA mode. While I do not want to bombard this posts with tons of screenshots, I just want to share the above image to show that when posting a photo, it will give you the ability to crop it and they offer built-in photo filters to enhance your photo. It is an absolute rocker!

The fourth icon is *THEMES. All the screenshots I presented here used the default theme Marina. As you can see in the image above, there are several color themes to choose from. To top it all, there is a DARK mode option if you prefer a dark background for your screen and save your eyes from too much stress from light exposure.

The right-most icon down on your screen is your *PROFILE page which shows your own blog posts. In this page you can also edit your profile including changing your profile photo. Like in your FOLLOWING feed, there is the option to choose a different VIEW mode for your posts.

But hey, that's not all of it. See that curvy purple thing on the right side of the screen? When you swipe it to your left, it will take you to your ACCOUNT page. But it's more than just showing your Hive stats. It functions as your wallet and allows you to do wallet functions like what is shown below. It also has link to a referral page which provides you your referral link to send to your friends. That same page also shows the list of people you have referred to use Dapplr.

@dapplr has posted about the creation of its own token and users can have the opportunity of earning those tokens by using the app. So aside from potentially earning HIVE tokens, users can earn Dapplr tokens which I hope, fingers-crossed, that can be traded in Hive-Engine.

The referral system is also something to look forward to. What makes it more appealing is that referral earnings are taken from a different “token pool” and not from the earnings of the people you refer. This setup makes for a win-win situation between the referrer and the referee, and will encourage the latter to become a referrer too, which eventually result in mainstreaming the Hive blockchain even more!

After I publish this post, I will start referring my friends to download and use Dapplr. While I look forward earning extra tokens for referring them, what I really like more is being a part of mass-adopting this technology and helping the community grow. And I believe that as the user base increases, there is more room for improving the Dapp from user feedback and overall support from the community.

Overall, this app will go a long way. It is a handy all-in-one Hive blogging Dapp on your phone. Even in its early stage, it has already offered massive features that will certainly enrich your social media experience. For an alpha release, I believe the developers have done a remarkable job in creating Dapplr. It is definitely a game-changer in the HIVE blockchain and I look forward to its future releases.
