On my main account @elbrava I decided that I would invest a bit more than the absolute minimum which I talked about in the previous post. Through the combination of a powerdown from the old blockchain, some trading and some income from faucets I was able to buy 8 random cards for 32 Hive.

I got really lucky, because I got 1 Factory and 2 Appartement buildings. As you can see the factory needs 40 workers and 2 appartement buildings have a population of 20 each, so this meant exactly enough workers to get the factory producing. Since the Appartment buildings also generate 5 SIM income these three cards gave me 30 income.

I also got a Weed dispensary which gave me another 10 income, but needs 10 workers as well. Luckily I also got 2 Basic home’s and 3 Luxury home’s, so I had enough workers for those. Too many actually.

This overpopulation created unemployment and this reduced my income by 6 SIM if I remember correctly. So I decided to sell one of the Luxury home’s on the market for a competitive price. This combined with some HBD conversion and 4 Hive refund from the dCity promo allowed me to buy a few more cards.

I got a few Farm’s which generate nice income and some free Immigrant cards. I bought 3 more cheap Immigrant cards and a Homeless card to get enough workers for my production buildings. I could easily do this, since my Popularity is high enough to take the negative Popularity from the Immigrant cards.

You could buy all cards on the market and carefully craft your city this way. But you would be paying a lot for cards like the Factory and the Appartment building. It is actually generally more beneficial to buy random cards through the Buy button at the top of the screen. But do not spend all of the Hive you were planning to invest. It is very likely that you will have to make adjustments because you have too much Population or too little Population.

By the way, 1st edition cards have a much higher chance for population cards and 2nd edition cards have lots of interesting production cards. So make a nice selection of that.

So decided how many cards you want to buy, then buy about 80% random cards and use the rest of your budget to optimise Population and Production.

Also be warned, this game can get quite addictive very quickly. The random cards, optimizing afterwards and getting higher income from it is a lot of fun. I invested about 50 Hive into this game so far, which is the highest investment I have done through hive-engine so far. I think it is really worth it though.

50 Hive is 10.000 SIM, but even with the 10% war tax activated by president @gerber, my city still generates 53 SIM daily. I’ll make sure to write about the tax system in the next blog, so follow me if you would like to know more about it. This daily income makes an annual income of 19.345 SIM even with 19% taxes. This means that most likely I will double my investment in one year. Or reach the break-even point in only half a year. This is absolutely amazing.

I am pretty sure that dCity is the best opportunity for investment on Hive at the moment.

Perhaps if you are really good at playing Splinterlands, then that will give you greater results, but still the ROI for dCity combined with the little effort you need to put into it is absolutely stunning!

Next blog I will get into the Tax system and after that I should explain some stuff about Technologies. So do follow me if you want to learn more about Tactics for dCity.
