Investing in dCity - the race to the top

In the last 24 hours I invested another 25 Hive in the dcity of my main account @elbrava. I wasn’t particularly lucky with my random cards. I got a Nuclear reactor, a Park and a Wind Turbine. Then bought some more Park’s and Basic Home’s to activate the Nuclear reactor. Still it was a decent growth in Population, 17 extra, so I was hoping to jump a few spots on the rankings list.

But no, it just about kept me in the same spot I have been in for the last week or so. Number 260 on the list. Even though I reinvest all income from dcity and my post rewards, it only just about keeps me in the same spot.

The competition for the race to the top of the rankings in dcity is very strong. If you do nothing, then you will be sliding out of the top300 really quickly.

I have been looking at the top200 for some time now. I would obviously like to enter the top200, but in just a few weeks the 200th ranked dcity has grown from a bit more than 400+ Population to 600+ Population. That is some serious growth.

The estimated value of my dcity is now 69000 SIM according to the dashboard. The Cityhelper bot is a bit more conservative with an estimated value of 54000 SIM, but it looks like the value of my dcity will grow beyond the value of my Hive power before the end of the year.

I had set an objective for myself to get into the top200. I thought if I would invest smart, that I would be able to just grow faster than others and slowly make my way forward. That however is not the case. There is a massive investment frenzy to get higher Hive rewards in the Top300, so even maintaining my position might be really difficult.

I have adjusted my goal. I want to remain in the top300 this year. I have a few more assets that I can convert to invest in dcity. I will do that if I have to, but for now I’m ok with reinvesting my rewards.

By the way, that should still more than double the value of my dcity in a year... Yes, it is that profitable and I am not the only one who has realized this :)
