Today, the DeFi Pulse tracker hit $1 billion. For an industry that no one had even heard of at the start of 2019, that's pretty solid growth. But DeFi Pulse is really just tracking the DeFi that occurs on the Ethereum blockchain plus the slow-growing Bitcoin Lightning Network. So part of the reason for my bullish call here is simply the fact that, even though Ethereum has a huge head start when it comes to DeFi, there is really a lot more to this movement than just EthFi.

That's why, if you've been following my blog here on SteemLeo or on Twitter, you know that it's my firm belief that the DeFi train is just barely getting started.

Today, I publicly committed to my long-held prediction that DeFi would hit $10 billion in total value locked-up (TVL) by the end of 2020. To further my commitment to this prediction, I am recording a screenshot of my tweet here on the STEEM blockchain for time immemorial.

As I am on pretty much de facto lockdown in my Shanghai apartment for the foreseeable future, I hope to be writing more about the great projects that are getting DeFi going on non-Ethereum chains.
