The paddy fields have been harvested by a machine. I had written a post months ago about how a lady took an initiative and took all our lands on lease to cultivate paddy and also help us get good rice grains.

Well, the fields have been harvested and the hay bales piled.

The hay that you see in the photo got wet because of a sudden downpour but thankfully, the rest had been distributed or sold.

We have yet to get the rice grains from her and treat it to get the rice. If there is a delay on her part, we are planning to ask her because all the other people opted for cash when we opted for the grains so that we would get organic produce.

Drying the grains

The hay will be of use now because the grass is drying up due to the hot summer and water is also becoming scarce.

I really hope the rains arrive soon so that the plants do not dry. Our lotus pond is dry and all the plants are fighting for survival. A sudden burst of rain did bring relief but only for one day.

This is how it looked a few months ago, an image from a previous post on steempeak Rice cultivation

I hope I will be able to get help to treat the grains and convert to rice as it is a very tough job and does require help.

The grains are double-boiled and then sun-dried before it is taken to the mill to be converted to rice.

A farmer's life is tough and more often than not, seldom profitable.
