Look what I cook

Today we have Black Forest cake on the agenda and I will do all be myself. Model 1 from last week

Model 2 from this week

Let's start

First we do the base. I backed a chocolate sponge cake and gave him some time to get cold.

Cutting in slices

Now we start from the bottom adding some cherries and whipped cream.

and in between looking for the nice look and feel of the whole growing cake.

The Definition

Black Forest cake or Black Forest gâteau is a chocolate sponge cake with a rich cherry filling based on the German dessert Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte literally "Black Forest Cherry-torte".

Typically, Black Forest cake consists of several layers of chocolate sponge cake sandwiched with whipped cream and cherries. It is decorated with additional whipped cream, maraschino or real cherries, and chocolate shavings. In some European traditions, sour cherries are used both between the layers and for decorating the top.

Traditionally, kirschwasser, a clear spirit made from sour cherries, is added to the cake, but in our case we don’t use any alcohol.

Other spirits are sometimes used, such as rum, which is common in Austrian recipes. German law mandates that kirschwasser must be present in the cake for it to be labelled a Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte.

Another level

After adding more levels it is time to do the top level with a lot more whipped cream.

The Toppings

Adding more chocolate as there is a lot of chocolate needed.

From above

As I said, it need a lot of chocolate

Now someone has to clean the plate as this will be used to deliver the cake to THAT guy who has his 50th Birthday

A big thank you

This is a great shot from Model 1 where a friendly "helper" did some nice pictures.

Left overs

All the cream was gone in a second after asking for support. But nobody was there as I was asking for support to clean the kitchen. ;-)
