We have installed the Blockstream Bitcoin Satellite system, a way to download and verify Bitcoin’s blockchain via satellite, without the need for an internet connection. Source

Every now and then we hear internet being shut down by governments, in effort to curb the spread of misinformation, which is one the of the excuses over internet shut down we get. Isn't the media we have grown to know misinformation itself?

Bitcoin Satellite is a project I like in the sense that it enables the Bitcoin node to be run without internet connection, as simple as it sound, it does sound foreign to me considering almost everything these days happens on the internet.
This goes to show how humans will keep developing and innovations are bound to be constant.

However, because this satellite based system does have the potential to improve the censorship resistance characteristics of the Bitcoin network and defend against some forms of eclipse attacks, its existence is probably a positive development. Source

This is another source of strength against censorship and no doubt a positive development for the Bitcoin network and possibly crypto going forward. I am assuming it doesn't end here, there will still be development over the project.
Looking at how developments are taking place, we might not be around to see the end product of it, we could possibly the one leaving the trail for younger generations to follow.

Is shutting down the internet still a threat? I suppose time will tell as humans strive daily to keep innovations running.

Above is a picture of the Satellite kit for installation.
