Hello!

After a couple of days off I am back on track to my daily articles in the HODL community. Today I found a really interesting piece to analyze. It is a report from Outlier Ventures, they are based in London but also have offices in Toronto and Chicago. They define themselves as a company that:

We partner and invest at the convergence of blockchains with artificial intelligence, the internet of things and robotics

It is a private analysis but I give them credibility. It is really complete and easy to read.

  • Active developers: Not all the top cryptocurrencies where checked, they just posted the results of 12 development platforms like EOS, TRON, Bitcoin Cash and Cardano. They measured the monthly active developers of this blockchains, and their variation (%) over time. They took the number of commits across thousands of repositories from this protocols.
  • Core development: For the core development they took the percentage change in code commits for each protocol over the past year. They analyzed the TOP 30 cryptocurrencies by market cap.
  • dApps:They took data from stateofthedapps.com for smart contracts and active users per blockchain.

If you are interested to see this report you can find the .pdf file HERE.

EOS is struggling to retain developers - 86% decline!

EOS suffered a substantial decline of developer activity since the main network launch, it is the worse decline from the 12 platforms of this report.

However almost all of them saw a moderate decline of development. We can assume that the Bear market also affected the volunteer contributors that probably declined.

# Core development Find here a really good chart of the core development activity from the top cryptocurrencies by market capitalization:

dApps

On the left there is the share of smart contracts and in the right by number of dApps.
The data it is not updated because HIVE is not on the chart, but we could replace STEEM with HIVE as almost all of the active dApps have moved to HIVE.

Wit the data of this report HIVE will be positioned as number 4 among the daily active users/number of dApps just after Ethereum, EOS and Klaytn (which I don't know what it is).

I hope you liked the summary! Enjoy! 😊
