I am always fascinated by my decentralised games and would love to create one too. There are quite a few games already in Hive where we have the big ones like Splinterlands and the ones like dCity which recently launched and has a potential to become one of the best game on Hive.

Just to give you an introduction, on dCity (a game on Hive Blockchain) you build your city as per your wish and thus become the virtual owner of the whole city. Here you build as well as optimize your city in terms of buildings, population, income and enhance again it in terms of technology, creativity and education.

Today, I have started playing this game and thus I will give you the first-hand experience on how to get started and how it works. To understand the game further you need to know about Basic Attributes of the game which is actually very important to understand the whole game altogether.

Population - The total population of your city. Income - SIM (a hive engine token, dCity official token) you are earning daily
Popularity - To get a bonus to your population, as a newbie I will not give much attention to popularity, but let's think as an important factor to improve your rankings in the game. Workers - Now this is very important, to receive an income from any buildings we need to have enough population which will work in that building if it needs workers. Say for example you have a Factory which has attributes like Income - 20, Popularity - 5 and Workers - 40, now you have to have a population of your city of 40 at least to get 20 Income from your factory, otherwise, you will not get a single SIM from that factory.

Now this information enough for us to get started in the game, so we will head towards buying the Cards. To buy dCity cards we need either SIM Hive-Engine Tokens or Hive. One card costs 4 Hive or 800 SIM, both are almost equal. You can pay using any one as shown below. One more thing to note is that you can buy only 10 cards in one transaction.

As you can see above we have two options Buy 1st Edition and Buy 2nd Edition since we are new to the game it's always better to buy 1st Edition and when we have enough population in our city we will go to the 2nd edition. The 1st edition consists of around 18 cards, but when you start in a game it's always better if you get Basic Home, Luxury Home or Apartment because that will give you population and you need population when you are starting out.

So today I have purchased 5 Cards and I got the below-mentioned cards. As you can see below I got only one Basic Home and thus I am only getting SIM 1 as an income because I don't have enough workers to get income from my Airport, Weed Dispensary, Factory or Restaurant. I need around 86 more population to get income from these buildings. Thus as I said, the population is one of the basic and most important aspects of your city.

To increase the population, I have bought two more cards and thus I was lucky to get Basic Home again, and thus my SIM income increased to 2. This is good as a starter because when you are starting the main thing is to learn about the attributes of the game to succeed in it. This is what my dashboard or my city looks like.

You can also buy cards from the Market, but buying from the Market seems to be a little expensive so I would not be buying it from the market as of now. One more good part about the game is you not only get the population from the Card, but you can also get it from the game itself as per your popularity. That means if your popularity is more, every 2 hours, the game can send you new citizens like Homeless, Immigrants but these can affect you negatively as with them you get negative popularity.

Now here comes the trading part, you can sell your building and homeless people in the market if you don't want to keep them.

Now, the important question of how do we earn from dCity. One thing to note is that the more buildings you have, the more income you will get if you have workers for that building. Apart from this, if you are inside 200 ranks you can also earn Hive based on the reward pool. I think as a newbie this is more than enough to know about dCity, so to improve in the game what we need to do is to get more population so that we will have more workers and thus eventually we will have income from our buildings.

Have you started playing dCity?
