Hello friends, Splinterlands is a very nice and fun card game. I have been playing it for 8 months and I enjoy it like the first days of the game.

Splinterlands is also the most popular and most played game on the Hive blockchain.

The protagonist of this post is a specific card of the Splinterlands game called **Armorsmith

Armorsmith Card

Description, Statistics and Ability

Armorsmith is a card from the Promo collection, is a Common card and is a card of the Life** element.

  • Has a **low mana cost (2)
  • Until it reaches level 3 it has no attachment points
  • Has 2 life and has no armor points.
  • Has a low speed (2)
  • Has a good ability: Repair

Thanks to the Repair ability, Armorsmith is able to restore the armor points of the friendly card that has suffered the greatest decrease in armor points.

Cost, Levels and Evaluations

It is an economic card.

Its cost is 0.034 $

In the following image you can see the most interesting levels to which you can bring Armorsmith:

  • Level 3: Acquires an attack point (0 -> 1**).

  • Level 6: Increases its speed points (2 -> 3) and increases its attack points (1 -> 2) .

  • Level 9: Increases its speed points (3 -> 4) and increases its attack points (2 -> 3)

The level that I think has the best cost / benefit ratio is the sixth level.

Fighting rules favorable to Armorsmith

In the game of Splinterland the fighting rules are very important.

Not paying due attention to combat rules often equates to losing a battle. The unfavorable combat rules for using Armorsmith are:

Back to Basics

According to this fighting rule, all card abilities are canceled. All cards with melee attack can only be deployed in first position and therefore generally only one will be deployed in first position. Armorsmith's strength lies in its ability (Repair) and when Armorsmith loses it, it becomes a little useful card.

Unprotected

When the battle rule is Unprotected all cards that have armor points remain with only life points. Armorsmith's Repair ability actually becomes unusable.

Little League

According to this combat rule, the only monsters you can field in battle are those that have a mana cost less than or equal to 4.

* This rule restricts the number of cards to choose from and Armorsmith becomes an even more valid choice.

**

Earthquake

At each game round, all cards that do not have the Flying ability suffer a life total decrease of 2 units. Armorsmith (Level 1) has only 2 life and will therefore only resist one game round. It is possible to make an exception and deploy Armorsmith even with this battle rule when using a summoner such as Tyrus Paladium who has the ability to give each card he summoned an additional armor point. In this case the additional armor point protects Armorsmith from the effects of the first earthquake turn. And this is precisely the case of the battle shared in this post. Now let's see how Armorsmith behaves on the battlefield and deepen the discussion on its use.

A battle of mine with Armorsmith

If you want to see the battle you can do it from this link: https://steemmonsters.com?p=battle&id=undefined&ref=libertycrypto27

In the battle of this post I had the following conditions to respect:

  • All cards acquire the Knock Out ability
  • At each battle round, cards that do not have the Flying ability suffer two damage points from the Earthquake.

Initial Statistics

* In general, I always choose a balanced battle for the Share your Battle contest.

In fact, if you look at the statistics in the following table, the battle seems fairly balanced at the start. **

My opponent and I have the same attack points (13).

Actually my advantage is great because I have a total score (life points + armor points) 8 points higher than my opponent and when the battle rule is Earthquake this is an important advantage.

My battle formation

*

The maximum number of cards that can be deployed in battle is 7 (1 summoner + 6 monsters).

I chose to deploy (in order of position):

**

Goblin Mech - Luminous Eagle - Silvershield Assassin - Divine Healer - Armorsmith - Cyclops

Tyrus Paladium (Summoner)

First position

*

**

Goblin Mech (Level 6)

  • Has a high mana cost (10).
  • Has 5 attack points (Meele Attack)
  • Has 7 life points and 6 armor points.
  • Has average speed (3)
  • Has two skills: Piercing and Stun

Thanks to the Piercing ability, when attacking Goblin Mech can subtract both the armor points and the life points of the opposing card if the armor points of the darling attacked are less than his attack.

It is an excellent ability and allows you to block the attack of the opponent's card for one round. Note, however, that the Stun ability does not materialize at every round of the battle, there is a chance that it will materialize but it doesn't always happen. His ideal position is the first position except for particular battle rules. It is an excellent card when there are many mana available and it is a very useful card in the first game levels. My Goblin Mech is level six and, in my opinion, it is the level that has the best cost / benefit ratio. Why did I choose Goblin Mech?** *It has a good number of life points (8) and a good number of armor points (7) and can easily withstand several earthquake turns.

Second position

Luminous Eagle (Level 1)

A card that I often use in second position and especially when the battle rule is Earthquake.

  • Has a medium-high mana cost (6)
  • Has 5 life points.
  • Has an average speed (3)
  • Has two abilities: Flying and Reach.

Thanks to the Flying ability Luminous Eagle is more likely to avoid melee and ranged attacks.

Thanks to the Reach ability Luminous Eagle can attack from the second position instead of only the first. Why did I choose Luminous Eagle?** *Mainly for his (Flying) ability that makes Luminous Eagle immune to the effects of the Earthquake

Third position

Silvershield Assassin (Level 4).

Has a high mana cost (7) and has a good attack (2) It has a medium-high speed (4). It has 5 life points. It has two Sneak and Double Strike abilities:

Thanks to this ability, attack the monster in last position instead of the monster in first position. Excellent to deploy if our opponent has very strong cards with attack from a distance.

This is an excellent ability and, in fact, increases Silvershield Assassin's attack by two units. Why did I choose Silvershield Assassin?** *It's one of my favorite cards. It has a double attack and among other things it has a very useful armor point in battles where there is an earthquake action

Fourth position

Divine Healer (Level 3).

Why did I choose Divine Healer?** *The ability to restore the life points of the card to first position makes Divine Healer a card to be deployed almost always and even more so when the battle rule is Earthquake.

Fifth position

In fifth position I deployed ArmorSmith (Gold - Level 4).

It is the star card of the Splinterlands weekly contest and of this post. In the battle that I shared, twice restore the armor points of my Goblin Mech. A really useful card. Although the Earthquake is not a battle rule conducive to its use, the additional armor point conferred by the summoner Tyrus Paladium allows ArmorSmith to hold out until the third round of the battle.

Sixth position

Cyclops (Level 3).

The main reason I chose to deploy Cyclops is its ability: Shield. The Shield ability allows you to halve the damage dealt by the Earthquake (-2 to -1).

Summoner

The summoner I chose is Tyrus Paladium - Level 4**.

Thanks to his ability all my cards get one more armor point. For this reason, he is an excellent summoner to deploy when the battle rule is Earthquake.

Final Considerations

Armorsmith is a good card, it has a low mana cost and a paltry dollar cost. It is a very useful card especially in the battles of the Splinterlands initial leagues and therefore it is a card that I recommend to new players.

It might be useful to buy Armorsmith in double version: Regular (Level 2) and Gold.

You can use Armorsmit (Level 2) when the battle rule is: Keep Your Distance (Monsters with Meele Attack cannot be used in battle)

You can use Armorsmit (Gold - Level 4) when the battle rule is: **Up Close and Personal (Only monsters with melee attack can be used in battle)

*

To face a battle in the best way it can be useful to look at the cards that the opponent sets up most frequently. You can do this by taking a quick look at the following screen that precedes the choice of cards to send in battle: **

With this post I participate in the Splinterlands weekly "Share your Battle**" contest.

I really like to participate in this contest and if you are registered in Splinterlands you must absolutely participate too. **

Haven't you registered on Splinterlands yet?

You are missing out on a more unique than rare opportunity to enjoy yourself and at the same time to earn tokens and cards.

Splinterlands is a beautiful game but it is above all an excellent investment (my personal opinion).**
