IO, the public services app

Da qualche giorno è disponibile su Apple Store e su Google Play una app denominata IO.

Questo progetto arrivato, dopo due anni di gestazione, alla fase beta pubblica è nato all'interno del Team per la Trasformazione Digitale, per offrire un'interfaccia semplice al cittadino italiano, anche residente all'estero, che permetta di accedere a tutte le informazioni della Pubblica Amministrazione, di richiedere qualunque tipo di documento, certificato, etc. e, per concludere, di ricevere o, soprattutto, effettuare pagamenti, sempre inerenti alle pubbliche amministrazioni.

Oggi la versione beta è in carico a PagoPA, un servizio già attivo che permette il pagamento di Bolli auto, multe, etc.

Per fare qualche esempio, a regime, attraverso l'app IO sarà possibile:

  • ricevere messaggi e comunicazioni da un ente, con la possibilità di archiviarle
  • ricordare e gestire le proprie scadenze verso la Pubblica Amministrazione (es. carta d’identità, permesso ZTL, bandi per iscrizione ai nidi...), aggiungendo i promemoria nel proprio calendario personale con un clic
  • ricevere avvisi di pagamento, con la possibilità di pagare servizi e tributi (es. Bollo Auto, TARI, mensa scolastica, multe…) dall’app in pochi secondi (direttamente dal messaggio o tramite scansione QR dell’avviso cartaceo) portando sempre con sé lo storico delle operazioni e le ricevute di pagamento
  • ottenere certificati, notifiche e atti pubblici, da conservare nel proprio smartphone
  • avere sempre a disposizione i propri documenti personali in formato digitale (codice fiscale, patente, tessera sanitaria…)
  • IO integra pagoPA, che permette di pagare in maniera rapida e intuitiva dall’app: salvando in modo sicuro i propri metodi preferiti (carte di credito e, presto, anche bancomat, paypal, etc..) e usandoli ogni volta che servirà un pagamento verso lo Stato. Con l’app il cittadino può pagare qualunque avviso cartaceo emesso nel circuito pagoPA, inquadrando semplicemente il QR code riportato sul bollettino

Ho installato e provato l'app, ovviamente ad oggi le cose disponibili sono veramente poche.

Come qualsiasi app sono andato su google play e l'ho scaricata. Esiste anche una versione per Apple, ma io ho uno smartphone Android.

Una volta installata apparirà questa icona sul vostro smartphone

Lanciata l'app appaiono le solite schede esplicative

Quindi viene richiesta una autenticazione che può avvenire tramite SPID oppure CIE, io ho una SPID (identità digitale) tramite Poste, ho utilizzato quella tra le varie possibili scelte

Ho inserito le credenziali di primo livello (mail e password)

Mi sono state presentate le informative sulla privacy

Termini e condizioni d'uso

Ho dovuto inserire anche la validazione SPID di secondo livello, quindi mi è stato chiesto di settare un pin

Non ho attivato il riconoscimento biometrico, quindi mi è stata presentata questa schermata

Ho validato la mia email e quindi sono finalmente entrato sulla home

Le possibili opzioni sono:

  • Pagamenti
  • Servizi
  • Profilo

Messaggi ha due sottocartelle

Nei pagamenti occorre ovviamente aggiungere dei metodi di pagamento

Attualmente è possibile solo aggiungere una carta di credito/debito, a regime dovrebbero esserci quelle elencate

I pagamenti dovrebbero poter avvenire semplicemente inquadrando un QR Code, ma è una cosa che ovviamente non ho provato

I servizi sono il nucleo dell'app, anche in questo caso ci sono 3 sottomenù

Tra i servizi a livello nazionale, per ora, solo quelli forniti dall'ACI

Nell'elenco globale di tutti i servizi è possibile selezionare quelli che sono di nostro interesse

Sono ancora pochi, ma già ora si tratta di diverse pagine da scorrere, mi viene il dubbio che se a regime quasi 8.000 comuni, più province, regioni, etc. inseriranno TUTTI i loro servizi, sarà piuttosto complicato trovare quello che ci interessa. C'è una funzione di ricerca, ma non mi pare rispondere appieno all'esigenza.

Ad oggi esiste solo l'app, in futuro le stesse cose dovrebbero essere disponibili anche tramite web browser sul sito
io.italia.it che attualmente è solo informativo

C'è una sezione sviluppatori, perchè il progetto è open-source che si può trovare su github e, attraverso le API, è possibile fare interrogazioni, fornire dati, etc.

Personalmente non ho trovato nessun servizio utile, non risiedo in nessuno dei comuni che hanno già attivato dei servizi e pago il bollo auto con l'addebito automatico che fornisce la Regione Lombardia, che consente anche un piccolo risparmio.

Sicuramente sarebbe comodo poter pagare con un click le varie IMU, TASI, TARI, insomma tutto quello che si deve pagare, come anche iscrivere il proprio figlio all'asilo, a scuola, consultare le pagelle, richiedere il rinnovo della carta d'identità, della patente, etc.

Secondo i piani tutto ciò dovrebbe essere possibile, al più tardi, nel 2022, speriamo che questo progetto venga portato avanti, perché mi pare, in prospettiva una bella semplificazione.

For some days, an app called IO has been available on the Apple Store and Google Play.

This project which arrived after two years of gestation in the public beta phase was born within the Digital Transformation Team, to offer a simple interface to the Italian citizen, also residing abroad, which allows access to all information. of the Public Administration, to request any type of document, certificate, etc. and, finally, to receive or, above all, make payments, always inherent to public administrations.
Today the beta version is in charge of PagoPA, an already active service that allows the payment of car stamps, fines, etc.
To give some examples, when fully operational, through the IO app it will be possible to:

  • receive messages and communications from an institution, with the possibility of archiving them
  • remember and manage your deadlines to the Public Administration (e.g. identity card, ZTL permit, calls for enrollment in the nests ...), adding reminders to your personal calendar with a click
  • receive payment notices, with the possibility of paying services and taxes (eg Car Stamp, TARI, school canteen, fines ...) from the app in a few seconds (directly from the message or via QR scan of the paper notice) always carrying with itself the history of transactions and payment receipts
  • obtain certificates, notifications and public deeds, to be kept on your smartphone
  • always have your personal documents available in digital format (tax code, driving license, health card ...)
  • IO integrates pagoPA, which allows you to pay quickly and intuitively from the app: safely saving your favorite methods (credit cards and, soon, also debit cards, paypal, etc ..) and using them every time you need a payment to the state. With the app the citizen can pay any paper notice issued in the pagoPA circuit, simply by framing the QR code shown on the bulletin

I installed and tried the app, obviously there are very few things available today.
Like any app, I went to google play and downloaded it. There is also a version for Apple, but I have an Android smartphone.

Once installed, this icon will appear on your smartphone

Once the app is launched, the usual explanatory cards appear

So an authentication is required that can take place via SPID or CIE, I have a SPID (digital identity) through the Post Office, I used the one among the various possible choices


I entered the first level credentials (email and password)

I have been presented with the privacy policies

I also had to enter the second level SPID validation, so I was asked to set a pin

I didn't activate biometric recognition, so I was presented with this screen


I validated my email and then I finally entered the home

The possible options are:

  • Messages
  • Payments
  • Services
  • Profile

Messages has two subfolders

In payments, obviously, payment methods must be added

Currently it is only possible to add a credit / debit card, when fully operational there should be those listed

Payments should be possible simply by framing a QR Code, but it is something that obviously I have not tried

Services are the core of the app, also in this case there are 3 submenus


For now, among the national services, only those provided by the ACI

In the global list of all services, you can select those that are of interest to us

There are still a few, but already there are several pages to scroll, I doubt that if almost 8,000 municipalities, more provinces, regions, etc., are fully operational they will enter ALL their services, it will be quite difficult to find what interests us. There is a search function, but it does not seem to me to fully respond to the need.

To date, only the app exists, in the future the same things should also be available via the web browser on the site [io.italia.it] (https://io.italia.it) which is currently for information only

There is a developer section, because the project is open-source which can be found on github and, through the API, it is possible to query, provide data, etc.

Personally I have not found any useful service, I do not reside in any of the municipalities that have already activated services and I pay the car tax with the automatic charge that the Lombardy Region provides, which also allows a small saving.

Surely it would be convenient to be able to pay with a click the various IMU, TASI, TARI, in short, all you have to pay, as well as enroll your child in kindergarten, at school, consult the report cards, request the renewal of the identity card, of the license, etc.

According to the plans all this should be possible, at the latest, in 2022, we hope that this project will be carried out, because it seems to me, in perspective, a nice simplification.
