A new week, a new challenge to meet for @splinterlands...

Every week is what I tell myself when I see the challenges called by @carrieallen, where unfortunately, in the last challenge, I could not participate because of personal situations, however, I am back and also encouraged by being able to create content for @splinterlands again. I've seen the monster that should be used and it's really great, although I haven't tried it much in battle, but I do know its skills and what it could do, besides the scope it could have.

The "Phantasm" is a relatively new card in the "Rewards" edition, but as I said before, we shouldn't underestimate this kind of common monsters, because, in big levels, they are able to rival even some legendary cards. Of course we must know the rules well and when their skills can be most useful, so that we can take advantage of 100% of the card.

Let's talk about the "Phantasm" in more detail

As I mentioned this is a card from the rewards edition added to the game recently, it has a rather peculiar skill set that makes it a good tank, however, throughout the game, there are practically many types of "tanks" that can adapt and withstand almost all types of attacks in the game, In this sense, the "Phantasm" is one of them, since at higher levels, besides its intrinsic ability to fly, it has "Return Fire and Retaliate", so monsters with range attack, are at risk against this card at higher levels, also for melee monsters by the "Retaliate".

*In general, it is a good card that is capable of fighting and giving the best of itself at the highest levels, so of course I would recommend having this card in your decks.

Time for Battle

A close battle from beginning to end without a doubt, or at least until the second strongest card in my opponent's field was defeated, this was his "Phantom Soldier". It was also a complicated battle for me, since of course the Death Splinter I possess is not the strongest of my teams, which is "Earth". However, in order to use the power of some of my cards even more, I had to use the summoning power of my "Delwyn Dragonscale", in order to gain a little advantage over my opponent.

Rules of my battle

  • Mana: 34
  • Unprotected: This rule is quite simple to understand, what it says is that no monster will possess "Shield" even with a possible summoner's ability, so monsters' life points are exposed throughout the battle.
  • Taking Sides: This rule means that no player can use "Neutral" cards to support their team, so we only have our own Splinters outside of this type of cards.

My Team

**Delwyn Dragonscale
I had to have some patience to be able to fight with my best death team cards, basically I waited for my chance to use "Delwyn" and even though it didn't make much difference on the field in terms of raising the attack power of my cards, since I didn't possess any magic, if I granted myself some good level death cards, which allowed me to finally get the victory, even when my opponent's summoner weakened the attack power of some of my rank cards.
Phantasm
In my battle strategy I wanted to take a risk even though I didn't have the full power of my best cards, this included my "Phantasm" as a tank, to prove that it is made with only its level 1 and what level of resistance it could have against my opponent, of course, my "Phantasm" fulfilled its task, even though it then fell on the field, of course I didn't have any cards that could give it more resistance, but thanks to my strategy and the tank I placed as a backup if I could give myself more time to attack.
Haunted Spirit
My backup tank for this battle, despite being at only level 1, did its job perfectly and despite the fall of my "Phantasm" it was able to withstand my opponent's attacks in order to give my team more time in the background to be able to attack, which, according to my attack and defense strategy, worked as expected.
Grim Reaper
One of the most important cards in my strategy and it is basically because of its native skill called "Affliction", since my goal was to make sure to counteract any health healing method that my opponent could have used against me, clearly this did not use any card with the skill of "Heal or Tank Heal", but this also worked as a great distance hitter, in that sense it became one of my main pitchers that allowed me to defeat my opponent.
Octopider
Another one of the most powerful rank attack cards I have in my kill team. His 3 point range attack power, which later became 2 thanks to the summoner my opponent used, didn't prevent my "Octopider" from causing serious damage to his cards, where additional thanks to his "Demoralize" skill, I was able to decrease the melee attack power of all his cards, which also allowed me to gain advantage and additional attack.
Fire Spitter**
The last card in my team, and the one that would allow me to defend my team in the background, besides attacking, because thanks to its ability to fly and its high speed, if my opponent happened to use monsters with the ability of "Sneak", the goal is that it could avoid those attacks or at least its great majority, so that the rest of my team would attack and in turn this one too since of course was part of my line of 3 range attack.

Did your strategy work? What will you try differently next time?

My strategy did work, but it was a bit risky to use my "Phantasm" as a tank in the first place, although of course I already had a plan B, as I was sure that it would not stay on the field for long, but my goal with it was to at least beat my opponent's tank called "Bone Golem", which I did without much trouble. Now for a next time, I must evaluate the rules and determine in which set of these would be better to use this card, to take advantage of 100% of its capabilities in the future and leave it for specific strategies.

Do you use Horny Toad often? Why or why not?

The truth is that I had not used it much, so I commented that it was a risk not to have evaluated its capabilities before, although just seeing its statistics allowed me to get an idea, so I know that it is a very specific type of tank that can also be adapted to very specific rules, but I must analyze it better, but in summary it is a great card and I liked very much to use it in this challenge, it's a lot of fun for me to do it, because besides what I have fun playing, I can learn more about the game and think of new strategies that allow me to win many more battles.

Again a weekly challenge of this great blockchain based game called Splinterlands, if you want to know how to win real rewards with it join in without further delay.
