This weekend i had the traveling bug i needed to get out of Bangkok city for the weekend since i had bought a airline ticket from AirAsia for $100 US which they were promoting allowing you to use this ticket for unlimited flight to end of December 2020 no catchers involved this was a extremely great deal so i booked my first flight with them on Friday and was in Koh Samui island of paradise within a few hours without any problems on Chaweng beach by the infinity pool with my feet up.

Koh Samui Isand is the second largest island in Thailand and it lies in the Gulf of Thailand a very famous island known by world wide tourist coming here all year round because of it's tropical weathers but at the moment due to the Covid-19 it has no foreign tourist only some Thai national visitors which is sad to see as all hotels and resorts are really doing it hard but one advantage it is so peaceful to be here and nature has had time to recover so the beaches are crystal clean.

Even the beach dogs are lonely and bored with no tourist to play with them or feed them 🤔

Koh Samui Island has so much to offer apart from it's blue crystal water white sand beaches it has so much beauty and natural beautiful nature with it's mountainous rainforest there is much hiking that can be done on this island all trails leading you to the most amazing viewpoints of the island a photographers dream.

Restaurants and coffee shops on this island you will find either nestle in the jungle on the mountain sides overlooking the landscape or overlooking the sea views and it makes you wonder how they can even get the materials and machines up there to build these amazing restaurants or coffee shops like this coffee shop we found up on the hills the "Tree Bridge Coffee" just a amazing spot to chill while having a coffee or a ice tea with spectacular green lush trees surrounding you , birds singing away and not to mention the views.

This beautiful restaurant by the beach also with spectacular beach views we stopped here to have some late lunch i decided on a nice chicken pork noddle soup big bowl full for $2 US great value and very tasty.

This giant Gecko which they call a Tukkae came up close to us at this restaurant demanding food we were not about to refuse his demand i have never seen a Tukkae come up so close like this i gave him a chicken ball and he took off making sounds of happiness 😂

He even come to visit me in my room later evening asking for more food the cheeky bugger 😊

We hired some motorbikes with some other friends on the island that had joined us the motorbike hire was like $6 US per/day easiest way to get around and cheap transport we wanted to visit the Overlap Stone and a couple of Temples and it was easier and nicer to have our own transport to rely on.

The Overlap Stone is located up in the hills relatively close to Lamai Beach on Koh Samui’s east coast it's a natural huge stone balancing rock situated on another big rock providing amazing views of Koh Samui’s east coast the rock stands 8 meters tall with a nice solid wooden bridge leading you out to the rock a great spot to enjoy the tranquility and the amazing views of Koh Samui Isaland.

After taking in these breathtaking views we decided to move on to visit one of the most beautifullest temples on the island called the Wat Plai Laem this temple incorporates design elements of Chinese and Thai traditions.

The Wat Plai Laem Temple in Koh Samui is known for it's most modern pieces of architecture the huge 18 armed Buddha statue is the spectacular image of Guanyin, the Goddess of Mercy and Compassion.

The large white laughing Buddha statue is another beautiful site to see standing tall happy , fat and cheerful and the whole temple looks like it has been built inside a huge lotus flower on the lake a speactacular design to see.

Definitely a treat if you're looking for design and culture aspects very interesting to see the paintings on the walls and ceiling and all the Goddess of worship satues inside the temple.

This temple was definitely worth a visit and walk around looking at all these beautiful statues and temples and feeding the huge catfish and carp in the surrounding lake was interesting and fun you can buy some pellets for less then $1 US it keeps the enviroment happy.

And a great day had on Koh Samui Island it was time to head back to our bungalow on the beach front for a few night caps , thanks for coming along with me on my tour hope you enjoyed as much as i did 😊
