У рубрики #uzhhorodsculptures практично нема вихідних! Ну, тому що на сьогоднішній день їх в Ужгороді вже більше 40-ка, я від них в захваті та хочу розповісти про кожну якомога детальніше. Ще я увійшла в азарт із своїм графоманством та практично кожну вільну хвилину пишу якісь нові думки та уривки майбутніх дописів.

There are almost no weekends in the #uzhhorodsculptures section! Well, because today there are more than 40 of them in Uzhhorod, I am delighted with them and want to tell about each in as much detail as possible. I also got excited with my graphomania and almost every free minute I write some new thoughts and excerpts from future posts.

Сьогодні я розповім вам про таку історичну особу, як Мухаммад аль-Ідрісі. Це була ювілейна, 25-та міні скульптура, котру встановили в Ужгороді. Традиційно фігурку створив Михайло Колодко.

Today I will tell you about a historical figure like Muhammad al-Idrisi. It was a jubilee, the 25th mini-sculpture, which was installed in Uzhhorod. Traditionally, the figurine was created by Mykhailo Kolodko.

Хто такий Мухаммад аль-Ідрісі? / Who is Muhammad al-Idrisi?

Це досить відомий арабський географ, картограф і мандрівник, котрий народився в Марокко у 1100 році та був представником шляхетного роду Ідрісів.

This is a well-known Arab geographer, cartographer and traveller, who was born in Morocco in 1100 and was a member of the noble family of Idris.

Близько 1138 року він переїхав до італійського міста Палермо, де жив при дворі сицилійського короля Рожера II. Саме за дорученням свого правителя Мухаммад організував низку експедицій для того, щоб створити детальну карту світу, котра показана нижче.

Around 1138 he moved to the Italian city of Palermo, where he lived at the court of Sicilian King Roger II. It was on behalf of his ruler that Muhammad organized a series of expeditions to create a detailed map of the world, which is shown below.

За результатами цих мандрівок було складено велику та найбільш детальну карту відомої частини світу, на той період. Також, до карти додавалась географічна енциклопедія під назвою "Книга розради для того, хто прагне подорожувати по областях".

As a result of these travels, a large and most detailed map of the known part of the world for that period was compiled. Also, a geographical encyclopedia called "A book of consolation for those who want to travel to the regions" was added to the map.

Вона являється цінним джерелом з історії та історичної географії Європи та Африки, а також містить інформацію про віддалені країни та народи, такі як перси, туркмени тощо.

It is a valuable source on the history and historical geography of Europe and Africa and contains information on distant countries and peoples such as the Persians, Turkmen, and so on.

Чому скульптура знаходиться в Ужгороді? / Why is the sculpture located in Uzhgorod?

На жаль, так вийшло, що, навіть, спеціальні помічники аль-Ідрісі не відвідали територію Карпатської Русі, тому інформація про українські землі є досить неточною. Але ж, чомусь його встановили в Ужгороді?

Unfortunately, it turned out that even Al-Idrisi's special aides did not visit the territory of Carpathian Russia, so the information about Ukrainian lands is quite inaccurate. But, for some reason, it was installed in Uzhgorod?

Причиною для цього стало те, що завдяки тотальній роботі Мухаммада, котрий закінчив карту в 1154 році ми отримали першу історичну задокументовану згадку про місто Ужгород. Існують відомості, що цього ж року Мухаммад аль-Ідрісі в своїх записах згадує про місто Унгвар у Східних Карпатах.

The reason for this was that thanks to the total work of Muhammad, who completed the map in 1154, we received the first historically documented mention of the city of Uzhgorod. It is reported that in the same year, Muhammad al-Idrisi in his writings mentions the city of Ungvar in the Eastern Carpathians.

Яка історія в скульптури? / What is the history of sculpture?

Мухаммад аль-Ідрісі з'явився в Ужгороді 27 вересня 2015 року і відкриття було приурочене до Дня міста. Побачити її одразу досить складно, так як розмір статуетки менше 20 сантиметрів, а також вона живе на одному з високих вуличних столиків за якими місцеві жителі та туристи п'ють каву та можуть закривати Мухаммада чашками кави 😊

Muhammad al-Idrisi appeared in Uzhgorod on September 27, 2015, and the opening was timed to coincide with the City Day. It is difficult to see her at once, as the size of the statuette is less than 20 centimetres, and she also lives on one of the high street tables where locals and tourists drink coffee and can hide Muhammad with cups of coffee 😊

Щоб не пропустити її звертайте увагу на самі столики, Мухаммад розташований на мраморному постаменті, де торець прикрашено текстом "Ungvar 1154".

To not miss it, pay attention to the tables themselves, Muhammad is located on a marble pedestal, where the end is decorated with the text "Ungvar 1154".

До речі, якщо придивитись до лівої руки скульптури, то можна побачити там сувій на якому вигравіювана назва міста, як відсилка до важливого історичного моменту.

By the way, if you look closely at the left hand of the sculpture, you can see there a scroll with the name of the city engraved on it, as a reference to an important historical moment.
