In five days time, I'll be celebrating my four years anniversary of being in hive. It has been an amazing experience that started as a joke but has now morphed into a lifestyle.

Hive represents my portal to the world of crypto and no matter how much I diversify, it will always be the majority of my portfolio. On numerous occasions, I've been advised to hold Bitcoin and Ethereum but I don't think I can afford that right now.

Blue chip assets are awesome and all but they're not just my cup of tea right now. I'd definitely buy them at some point but that'll be when I have wealth that I want to preserve.

Right now, I'm at the stage where I have to put in work and there's no better place than hive. On hive, you get rewarded for your investment, time, and effort.

A time to explore

I love being on Hive and that's not going to change. I'm going to be here for a long time and my kids as well.

With that said, it's also important to explore other platforms to see what value can be derived from outside. This is why I have a portfolio that has assets on BSC and Ethereum blockchain.

As I continue to earn from my activities on Hive, I intend to branch out into even more platforms. I also intend to add even more juice to the assets I already have on BSC and Ethereum.

There's no time to sleep or rest on your laurels. As long as I've not met my target, which is the ability to retire somewhere nice and safe, then I must keep slugging it out.

Slugging it out requires decisions and strategies that ensure growth. Right now, one of those strategies is branching out from hive and then bringing that value back in.

The thing about crypto though is that it takes time and you have to be patient. I consider myself to be conditionally patient.

Traits

Patience is a virtue and you need it to get ahead in this game. Patience is a virtue that I exhibit in certain conditions and then don't in other conditions.

This is probably the reason why hodling strategy is one of the most difficult for me. I simply hate looking at idle funds.

It's probably the reason why I don't hold Bitcoin, and Ethereum. First of all, they're expensive and then secondly, I just can't hodl. I suck at it.

Every time I look at funds in my wallet, I start thinking about how I could use them to do something. Honestly, sometimes I think about how incredible it is that I've held on to hundreds of thousands of DEC for so long.

I'm always fidgety and always clicking about, looking for something that I could do with funds in my wallet. I really can't help myself most times.

Overall, I'd say it has worked out for me but there are some instances when I miss out on a good pump because I either staked or sold to reinvest in something else. I don't need to tell you how painful it is to miss out.

So from now on, I'll be making a conscious effort to hold coins and tokens. I won't sell anything, even though everything in me is telling me to stake or sell.

Tribaldex

It is also rather ironic that at this time, I've also discovered the Tribaldex on Hive. Through the dex, I've been adding to the Swap.hive/DEC LP and that process, in my opinion, will help me hold DEC.

The plan I have is pretty simple you see. If I participate in the aforementioned pool, I'm technically hodling both Hive and DEC on a dex that pays dividends for the pair.

The only problem is the impermanent loss that will inevitably arise from their price fluctuations. The question now remains if it's a good idea.

Technically speaking, that's still sort of investing and brings me back to square one(always looking to invest). On the other hand, it does seem like a better way to hodl when you consider LP rewards and double DEC LP points for the SPS airdrop.

Anyway, what I need to do now is sort out my thoughts and figure out what will work best for me. Do I hodl or do I hodl in a Dex?

There's a case for either option. The harder choice for me is simply hodling outside the dex. It's low risk but it's also boring and the action appeals to me.
