If the rumours are true, will you still buy PlayStation 5?

Playstation 5 is the latest instalment of Sony's Playstation video game console franchise that we've all grown to love...except you're an Xbox man, then boo hoo for you. My Twitter has been buzzing about the game after news of its release hit the net but most of the chatter I've encountered are more about Girlfriends/wives buying for their spouse, rather than the technical and financial aspects of the game.

The game was scheduled to be released sometime this year but with good old COVID interfering with everything, a lot was kept under wraps. However, in a gathering of nerds at the Future of Gaming event, Sony shocked the world by releasing a preview of the game's design.

The video showcased the asleakness of the new design, and what stood out to me was the fact that it doesn't have any CD drive. Another interesting fact is that it will have "Backward compatibility" as Tech Radar puts it, basically meaning that it will play most Playstation 4 games.

The game is equipped with advanced hardware and you can get all that stuff from Tech Radar if you're interested in those details but I just wonder how much different it will be from PS4. Judging by the demos in the clip in the reveal video above and some other concepts I've seen online, the difference between them isn't astronomical in terms of graphic, so it will be interesting to see how much the game will cost.

The price or specific release date hasn't been stated, but this was a nice way to tease Playstations fans. That hasn't stopped people from speculating though; some have predicted that the console will cost around $700-1000 range, especially after the Amazon gaff that probably doesn't hold water. It is all rumour and hearsay at this point, but if it turns out to be within that range, then perhaps holding on to your Playstation 4 for a year or two for the price to drop while the PS4 is slowly eased out is the way to go. Time will tell

This is not financial advice though. I'm just thinking out loud.
