Are Splinterlands players using other Hive blockchain Dapps?

I developed an interest in the number of Splinterlands players that are using the social part of hive.

As discussed in my previous post, I intend to run a Twitter campaign through giveaways that will hopefully nudge people in the direction of the social Dapps.

Leofinance is going to be my primary shilled destination but I'll also make them to see that there are so many other communities on hive.

I posted a tweet yesterday to enquire about how many Splinterlands accounts also use the Hive blockchain. Out of 63 votes so far, 19% say they only play the game and to make matters even better, @edicted gave me a straight forward raw data that pretty much answers the entire question.

The poll on Twitter then prompted @forexbrokr to drop in with a very helpful publication from @dalz about a similar inquiry.

Here are snippets from the very helpful publication

  • In the last year Splinterlands has created more then 700k Hive accounts!
  • In total, around 8000 accounts powered up some HIVE. A total of 340k HP in the period.
  • Cumulative with the game(that powered up slightly more than 1.1m hive), all the Splinterlands accounts powered up around 1.5M HIVE in the period.

I like where this is going

The data from the publication by Dalz shows that only about 1.1% of the the roughly 700k accounts created by Splinterlands use other hive applications. I'm making this assumption because this is the fraction of the total number that powered up privately.

Interestingly, the total number of Hive powered up by the 8k accounts is around 340k. So in essence, we have Splinterlands account powering up an average of 42.5 Hive.

That's actually a decent number but imagine how much more hive would have been powered up if we created a specific marketing campaign that focuses on attracting Splinterlands players to hive social front end?

If we set a VERY lofty target of onboarding 70% of Splinterlands players per year, the amount of hive being powered up by accounts alone will roll into the millions.

Note that last year, the number of Splinterlands players spiked around August. This is partly due to the airdrop I presume.

Anyway, if we were to project that to this year, we should be expecting at least one million new players by the end of the year.

So if we were to onboard 70% of that number to Hive social Dapps and also assume an average powering up rate of 42.5 hive, then we'll see 29.75 million Hive powered up by Splinterlands players.

In the general scheme of things, I think this is pretty huge for hive as a whole.

Quick reminder that this only accounts for the hive powered up by new Splinterlands (hive) accounts that were created in the period. Prior to that, there are already a ton of Splinterlands accounts that have hive powered up.

The only question now is how do we get up to 70% of Splinterlands players to use Hive?

Hive is the winner

I'm proposing a giveaway that will encourage people to use Splintertalk, Leofinance and other front ends to interact with some of my posts. However, that's just a personal project.

If we were to zoom out and look at the bigger picture, I think we can create a project that specifically targets this market.

Having more players and more people on hive is generally good for the distribution of assets around the platform. Yeah it leads to more competition but at the end of the day, Hive is the winner and that's what we all want.

Is it possible for each front end to create dedicated teams that focus on Splinterlands players? Especially front ends where Splinterlands players often share posts.

For example, I share almost exclusively on Leofinance but a lot of my posts also appear on Splintertalk, POB, and many others.

A lot of the Splinterlands players don't even know that they could continue enjoying their game and then share their winnings on Hive to earn even more money. That money could then be used to further improve their Splinterlands assets or just hodl and increase your stake in one of the best platforms in the entire crypto space.
