There's no doubt that hive is changing the lives of people all over the world. However, for the most part, people like me that live in third-world countries tend to feel the effect the most due to a combination of issues.

First of all, in Nigeria for example, our taxation policies are a tad bit loose and crypto slips under the radar. This means that I can "cash-out" as much as I want and the only person I'll answer to is my bank.

Some banks are sneaky fucks that will snitch on you to the Central bank but the punishment for selling crypto for Naira is the closure of your account and banknotes handed to you in place of your money. Frankly speaking, that ain't so bad.

Anyway, in today's world where everyone spends their entire life online, there's not much else we can do but make the best out of our internet as well. So, yeah, we're third-world living but we're also maximising the opportunity that life presented to us.

Beating minimum wage

The minimum wage in Nigeria is about 33,000 Naira per month. If you convert it to dollars at the official rate of $1=410 Naira (which nobody uses), you get about $80. In reality, most people trade the dollar at an astonishing rate of $1=570, putting the minimum wage at around $58.

The discrepancy in the price is due to some issues that I can't put my finger on but I'm sure a retarded mistake is involved.

Anyway, for the sake of this post, let's go with the official rate and say that the lowest salary of everyone in Nigeria is at least #80 per month(@deraaa will tell you a different story though).

From about this time last month until today, I've been tracking my Hive-engine token earnings and it pleases me to say that I earn more than minimum wage in the second layer.

I know there are some tokens with limited liquidity and trading volume, so I didn't take them into consideration. In fact, I only took Leo, POB, SPT, Oneup, Cent, and CTP into my calculations.

Based on my calculations, I earned almost $200 worth of tokens since last month. That's over double the minimum wage around here and I think that's a pretty huge deal.

Don't get me wrong, I know $200 per month isn't enough to sustain life in most developed countries but when you consider that these are tokens I earned largely from using their tags, it's a big deal.

Reinvesting minimum wage

There's no week that passes that I don't participate in some form of staking or crypto investment. As I mentioned earlier, I don't have much of a choice.

Second layer tokens on hive are among my favourite to stake and curate with. I like the fact that I get to earn on multiple fronts with one action.

For example, only today, I staked some of the aforementioned tokens that I accumulated to calculate my monthly Hive-engine earnings. For now, they're just raindrops but that's how oceans are born, you know?

It's amazing

I guess what I'm trying to say in essence is that I'm able to manipulate and grow my crypto portfolio in volumes that I could only dream of in the past.

It's just amazing how much I've grown and as always, I'm eternally grateful to everyone that has contributed directly and indirectly to my growth.

I've become a better human and evolved my life into a thriving business that is capable of sustaining a small household. All I want for Christmas is to be an even better human, continue to grow, and learn new strategies that will lead to improvement.
