ETH is seriously the worst...

Yesterday I was sitting at my desk when I noticed the price of WNCG was holding ever so slightly at the $1.28 range. I thought it might be a good time to move a little more of that WNCG into something else, so I decided to move about 890 of it to HBD.

I went into MetaMask to initiate the swap from WNCG to WLEO only to find that it was going to cost me a ridiculous $200 in gas fees to make the swap. I quickly clicked on the cancel button and tried to figure out what I was going to do instead.

Eventually, I decided to check the gas fees to swap from WNCG to ETH. It was still going to cost around $100 for that swap, so I said forget it and thought I might try again later in the evening when the network wasn't so congested and the fees might be lower.

Around 9:00 PM EST last night I logged back into my MetaMask wallet and checked the gas prices for a swap from WNCG to WLEO. It was still up in the $90 to $100 range, so I quickly cancelled that transaction too. Thinking I was going to be clever, I checked a WNCG to ETH swap. $40 for gas. I quickly swiped right to initiate the swap.

Then I got thinking... how horrible is it that I am okay paying $40 to move my own funds!

On top of that, I soon realized I still had about two or three more swaps to do...

The swap from ETH to WLEO cost me another $50 in gas, so I didn't really save anything by waiting. I could have just done the direct swap and been the same amount of money in the hole.

Finally, the real kicker happened this morning when I went to move my WLEO over to the HIVE blockchain. Another $30 in gas fees for the swap and on top of that, my LEO never showed up in my HIVE wallet!

I put in a ticket with Leo, and I have no doubt they will get it sorted out in time, but once again I am absolutely confounded by how hard it is to do pretty much anything on the ETH blockchain. I am starting to feel like the ETH chain is populated by 31 million (thanks Google) masochists'. Of which I am apparently one!

Oh how I pray for the days of cheap and easy transfers of funds from one blockchain to another. I hope we are heading there sooner rather than later, until we do get there, ETH is just about the absolute worst!
