Welcome to the Chaos!
I was recording the opening for a new podcast/YouTube series I started (keep an eye on https://zapcast.org/bitcoin-like-a-braaimaster/), so I opened 1 pack for the recording:
A pretty standard opening: 1 rare and 4 commons
Poor $ value... BUT... The Xenith Archer looks like I could find some work for her to do in a fair number of games...
... then I opened the other 15 packs:
3 Legendaries, 2 epics + 1 Gold Foil common.
Prior to opening my packs, I was most excited about the Fiends, and glad to see I got one. I don't generally play the earth splinter much... but looking at the new summoners and green cards... I'm not upset at all that I got the Fungus Fiend... definitely gonna start playing a lot more Earth Splinter battles.
As for my other 2 legendaries: Might just put them onto the market (and use that cash to buy more packs... hmmmm... choices, choices).
I'm happy with my epics and rares in general though, and overall:
The packs cost 16 x $4 (packs) + ~$6 (2 x 80 x potions) = ~$90
including 16 vouchers needed @ (roughly) $20 during pre-sale though == $410 ... but since the vouchers were airdropped to us for free, I'll ignore the $320 for the vouchers ;-)
Value opened: ~$220
i.e. I'm gonna put this one into the win column !!!
My SPS Airdrop points are slightly down:
Took this screenshot before I grabbed another 6 packs (so Card Pack airdrop points were actually 4, 800.
The price of a lot of the older cards dropped, so 3 of my low-ball bids were also met soon after Chaos Legion dropped... and I managed to pick up a lvl 2 Djinn Oshannus + 2 x Gold Foil Wavesmiths (Collection Power = 2, 500).
So, if I hadn't opened my packs I would be on ~2,500 airdrop points more... nothing really in the bigger scheme of things, so all good there... and my deck is substantially more competitive now. #score!
OH YES!!! Speaking of value:
Have you seen the price of our previously-loved furious chickens?
... chickens are down to $8.80/BCX ... People are making a mistake on this one... I think I might just grab a few.
Chickens still have a few uses/advantages over the new Chaos Legion Fiends:
- They can be played in any Splinter.
- They can be played WITH a fiend (think of those 12 mana cap games - 2 x 0-mana cards could bulk up a line-up quite nicely).
- A (non-upgraded) chicken can be used in the "Keep-Your-Distance" ruleset.
DAMMIT!!! If I wasn't saving up my DEC to buy packs I would go grab a handful of those chickens right now and wait for everyone to (re)realise their value ;-)
Again: Choices... Choices!
What would you do?
All in all, a fairly decent start to my Chaos Legion adventure I think. I'm going to get a lot more active (as soon as I get dropped enough vouchers)... and will be chronicling that (and the rest of my crypto adventures) right here on Hive (and @threespeak).
Never heard of Splinterlands?
If you're reading this because of a Facebook or Twitter post, you might not have heard of Splinterlands before...
In short:
@Splinterlands is an online blockchain game built on the Hive blockchain. It is similar to Magic: The Gathering and other trading card games... but now each card is an NFT & these NFT's and other in game assets are tradable and have real monetary value. #score!
