For 10 years we have been experiencing a real boom in the real estate market.

Interest rates are at rock bottom and are driving people into their own property.

Prices are rising continuously and especially in the urban areas, living space is also seen as an object of speculation.

The demonstrations against usurious prices and homogeneous living conditions have also been increasing for years.

Whole population groups are driven away by high rents and usually have to switch to the somewhat cheaper surrounding area.

But Corona is also putting the first damper on this sector, as tenants have been given more rights and the house bar is unsettled.

In Germany a lot of people live in rented apartments, if we compare the European member states with it and the rent usually devours a large part of the income.

Insecure times don't exactly encourage people to build houses and back rent is hard to collect.

As living is an existential necessity, the emotions are boiling fast and nobody wants the same conditions as in Stuttgart.

Lack of prospects and fears of soon being out on the streets is causing many citizens to bring their voices to the streets and more police violence will not provide a solution.

State aid would probably be better invested in the social housing market than to rescue some unprofitable companies.

"

Both in the city and in the country, real estate buyers had to pay more money. In the seven largest metropolises - Berlin, Hamburg, Munich, Cologne, Frankfurt, Stuttgart and Düsseldorf - prices for detached and semi-detached houses shot up by an average of 9.5 percent. Condominiums became 7.4 percent more expensive within a year, according to the Wiesbaden statisticians. In the other major cities with 100,000 inhabitants and more, house prices climbed by 8.3 percent and those for condominiums by 9.3 percent. Residential property also became more expensive in sparsely populated rural districts: there the prices for houses rose by 6.1 percent and for apartments by 4.9 percent.

Wiesbaden (dpa) - Damper for the German construction industry in the Corona crisis: In April, the construction industry recorded 5.3 percent fewer new orders than a year earlier.

For the first four months of 2020, the Federal Statistical Office calculated a decline in real new orders of 3.6 percent compared with the same period last year. This is also explained by the fact that orders at the beginning of 2019 were exceptionally high, the Federal Office announced. However, according to the Wiesbaden statisticians, the fact that "companies have postponed planned construction projects due to the economic uncertainty in the Corona crisis" may also have contributed to the decline.

"

It is true that prices in Germany are still within reasonable limits, as we do not simply let the market decide many questions.

In New York and London, the situation is much more dramatic and the drop in a global recession is far greater.

The times in the real estate market will probably also change, even though returns there are still high.
