So it is the start of another week and unlike the rest of the world we are still very much in lock down with no end in sight. I find this so frustrating and really unfair as doing business is hard enough without trying to do it with your arms tied behind your back.

I am a sucker for punishment and do relish a challenge no mater how tough things get. Everyone else is in the same position and knowing their over heads they are starting to squirm if they haven't already. We offloaded the warehouse 3 months ago already and was the right decision. I have some stock in my garage for the just in case customers and having the stock close by without having to worry about police road blocks.

I would not be worried if everything was a level playing field but it honestly isn't. In my industry many are corrupt and crooked and this takes time to educate the buyers where all the loop holes are and how they are being conned. We are talking about some companies losing millions each year yet they are looking for savings in all the wrong places.

The one company I have been chasing for close to 4 years and would never even answer my phone calls or return my messages has had a breakthrough. The lady in question answers her calls these days and we chat openly about everything. She understands where I am coming through and so does her boss finally.

They are busy retrenching staff and looking for savings yet they haven't changed suppliers on my products for 5 years or longer. They are having a full review starting in September due to my perseverance and have got through to the amounts of money they have tossed away. I didn't beat around the bush as I said it was criminal to just let things slide as they are whilst they retrench staff.

Around 10 years ago I nearly opened a business that would find savings for companies charging 10 percent of what was saved. If I had done that and followed my gut I could have retired already. I still think it is a viable business opportunity and once I have the packaging side running smoothly it is another option to seriously consider again. The companies I am supplying would be the perfect places to start and once they know me more and fully trust me it could be the right time.

The bigger the companies the more there is to find as there are so many departments. These days no one seems to care about spend and they should as it is the hidden costs that are crippling companies right now. My job would be a lot easier if people were more qualified in their roles. It shouldn't be up to me to educate them and highlight concerns yet I haven't come across one individual who knew what i was on about.

Lets all hope for a fruitful week and some positives.
