dCity started its journey at the end of January 2020. Its been around for eight months now and it has established on the Hive blockchain. There was a major update at the end of May 2020 that that really pushed the game forward. At some point in the future a new update is expected as well. The in-game currency SIM is used as a governance token now. If we look at all the defi projects, governance tokens seem to be a big deal these days 😊.

https://dcity.io/info For those not familiar with the game, dCity is a city simulator game where players are buying NFTs in form of a cards, that represent buildings and then try to optimize their city production. Players are rewarded with the in-game token SIM on a daily basis based on their city production. The top 300 players are rewarded with HIVE based on their ranking on the leaderboard.

Here we will be looking into the following: • Cards issued by date • Cards issued by type • Cards issued by player • SIM and HIVE rewarded to players • Cards buying • Top earners

The period that we will be looking here is from the start of the game, at the end of January 2020 till September 26, 2020.

Cards Issued

Here is the chart of the cards issued per day.

These are cards on a daily basis that have been purchased from the house. Players can buy cards with SIM or HIVE. One card cost 800 SIM or 4 HIVE. The chart above doesn’t include cards like immigrants, homeless and the other citizens cards that players get randomly. No tech cards as well.

We can see the big jump in the number of cards issed at the beging of June. This is when the update happened. Afterwards there is some drop in the number of cards purchased but the number still remained relatively high, above the 1000 mark. The average in the last period is around 1800 cards purchased per day.

Cards Issued by Player

Here is the chart for the top 20 players that purchased cards.

As noted, cards can be bought with SIM or HIVE. @lestrange is on the top with 20k purchased. Interesting he is not a top players so it means its basically for trading purposes.

@d-pend is is second followed by @desyft. Again, the third account looks like a trading account.

There is a total of 831 accounts that received a dCity card.

Cards Issued by Type

Here is the chart for the cards issued by type.

The number of cards by type is basicly following the drop rate of the cards. The Basic Homes on the top with 50k cards circulating, next the Luxury Home and then the Park and Farm cards. These two are from the second edition.

The above are basically the most common cards. How about the rarest?

Here the chart for those.

The Waves Broadcast Tower is the rarest card in the game. At least from the ones that are on sale 😊. Some tech cards are rarer than the above.

Next is the Steem Sign, than Laboratory and the Social Aid Office.

SIM Rewarded

The game is rewarding its players with SIM on a daily basis. Here is the chart for the daily amounts of SIM rewarded to players.

As we can notice the amount of SIM rewards has been increasing since more cards are issued daily that are bringing SIM to their players. We can notice a slight drop in May, this is because of the tax introduction. But it went up fast again because of new cards buying and players increasing their income. In the last days the SIM rewarded daily is around 1.5M.

How about SIM spent? The chart for buying cards with SIM looks like this.

This chart keeps on growing as well. In the last days it has over 1M SIM spent per day, on average 1.2M.

SIM Rewarded VS SIM Spent

Here is the chart.

This is basically showing is how much SIM didn’t went back in the game and players kept it. Remember SIM is now governance token and players are holding so they can elect president that can set some parametars in the game like taxes etc.

Overall, in the period above players were rewarded with around 120M SIM and at the same time around 108M was spent for buying cards. From this we can tell that most of the SIM goes back in cards buying. 12M was not spent back and players kept it.

The top SIM Earners

Here is the chart for the top SIM earners.

@themightyvolcano is an all time champion in earing SIM with more than 12M SIM earned.
@d-pend on the second place with 8M and then @dustindivitto on the third place with 7.7M

HIVE Rewarded

The game is rewarding players in HIVE as well. At first these rewards were distributed on a weekly basis and afterwards on daily basis. 50% of the cards sales goes into the reward pool, and 1.5% of that is distributed daily to players. A change was made and now 1% of the pool is distributed daily.

Here is the chart.

At one point there was almost 2.5k HIVE distributed daily. Then the payouts dropped a bit, and when the change from 1.5% to 1% daily payout was made there is yet another drop.

In the last period the payouts look like are stabilizing with a small increase even.

The top HIVE/STEEM earners Here is the chart for the top HIVE/STEEM earners.

@themightyvolcano is on the top here as well, with 16k HIVE received. Next is @ifunnymemes an then @sketching.

The HIVE rewards are based on population, so there are accounts that are “specialized” only in this. But there was a change recently that lowered a bit the payouts for population only accounts.

dCity is continuing its journey on the Hive blockchain with more cars issued and rewards by the day. It seems that in the last period there is a sort of stabilization of all the parameters. The numbers of cards issued per day, the SIM rewards and the HIVE rewards as well. The governance has been fun, with president rotation on a biweekly basis.

It will be interesting to see the how things will evolve with the next update, especially having in mind that the first edition cards should stop printing.

All the best @dalz
