Punks On Hive are officially sold out and the only way if you want to buy some now is from the secondary market. The sale went pretty fast and all of them sold out in around 36 hours period, or just day and a half.

Let’s take a look at some data, like how the sale went over time and the top buyers.

The way I pulled this data is just basically looking at the transfers to @punksonhive account and group that by account and time. It will be more interesting to see at the data for the rarities but I will need to dig a bit deeper for that. For now lets take a loo who did the heavy buying and more interesting maybe how many accounts in total own Hive Punk now.

Here is the chart for the buying’s over time.

I have put hours on the date axis 😊. Since punks sold so fast a date chart wouldn’t means much. Note the time is UTC.

The web went live few hours before the start of HiveFest. The first buying happened on 13:20 UTC, and prior to the start and during the HiveFest (16:00 UTC) there was a massive amount of buying. Then the curve flattens a bit, with around 3k to 4k punks sold. It went smooth from there until it reached more then 50% in sales, that was on Saturday around 14:30 UTC. Since then the buying started more aggressively again and they all sold out at around 01:30 UTC, Nov 14. There seems to be a bit more transfers after the sale but those didn’t go through.

Top Buyers

Here are the top Hive Punks buyers!

@wizardx and @yabapmatt in close race for the no.1 spot with around 800 punks bought! That’s some nice yolo in there 😊. Congrats!

Next is @marki99 on the third place with just place, and the @blockgaming account, that is the dev account on the fourth place with 300 punks.

The rest on the list are between 100 to 200. I personally didn’t make it, although I’m no.30 on the rank, so almost there 😊.

A total of 496 accounts bought Hive Punks .

Almost 500 accounts participating in this fast sale. I would say that is an OK number for the Hive community and many were able to afford at least one punk. The top 10 accounts bought 35% of the supply.

When it comes to NFTs things can be speculative as the value is totally subjective and it all depends will there be some popularity around them.

I personally expected the punks to be sold for year/s to come but obviously was wrong 😊. This project has showed that there is market for NFTs on the Hive chain. The Splinterlands success probably has brought in some more popularity (and capital) around here, and project like this basically use the momentum. I expect more NFTs projects to come around now, since Hive Punks sort of broke the ice and made a standard how things should look. At some point every community will issue their NFTs.

Hive Punks is using Hive Engine to create the NFTs, but also IPFS to store the images. @themarkymark presented the tech how he build it on HiveFest, and obviously its still not a standard copy past dev thing. We can expect things to become more easier in the future and more project to get into Hive NFTs.

Minting and buying NFT on the Hive blockchain for sure is a much smoother experience then on ETH 😊.

At the end I want to mention DLUX and their NFT project as well. https://www.dlux.io/nfts/

DLUX is a sidechain on its own, similar to Hive Engine and they got into NFTs as well. Kudos to @disregardedfiat who is behind the project. I will be getting some of those as well 😊.

All the best
