October Side-Gig Month - LBI Giveaway!

Yes, it's here - we love saving money and we like making money even more! Every Saturday for 5 Saturdays, we're going to look at opportunities to earn a little on the side that don't require qualifications or a huge outlay in capital. Last week we looked at teaching and tutoring, with feedback from @justclickindiva and @bearmol in the comments plus @missaj gave some extra ideas for earning through YouTube and voice-overs. Check your wallets for an extra LBI!

This is the last Saturday for October Side-Gig and here's a final round-up of ideas:

• Hive! Yes, we couldn't miss this one. There's a million ways to have a hustle on Hive - playing games, buying income tokens, posting and curating, taking part in communities, winning challenges. What's your favourite Hive side-hustle?
• YouTube - another online way to create a side-hustle - it needs a lot of time, so perhaps a long-time goal but great for anyone who has an interesting hobby and enjoys the technical aspects of creating and editing videos.
• Party Planner - I guess the originals were Avon and Tupperware, nowadays you can sell everything from books to underwear to aromatherapy oils. The benefits include flexibility to fit around other commitments. In the UK, average earnings are around £5,000 a year.
• Social Research Interviewer - another flexible opportunity where you can do from four to twenty hours to suit you (although often evening and weekend work) and choose whether you accept each 6-week contract. Travel time and mileage is paid - average earnings are about £5,000 a year.
• Compers - Compers enter every competition, contest, challenge and draw they find for the opportunity to win prizes. These are usually free to enter, but can involve following, liking or commenting on social media, signing up to an email newsletter or writing a winning slogan. Prizes are often sold (these can include high value items like cars, kitchen gadgets and digital devices). Another, similar, opportunity is watching ads to earn cryptocurrency.

More about EDS tokens

EDS tokens are a low-risk income token, ideal for people who want to save. There were only 20,000 originally and they were all sold at 1 Hive each, with guaranteed earnings of 12% each year. You can now acquire EDS tokens through the EDS Miner token.

Earnings come from powering up and leasing out the Hive that came from selling the tokens, plus earnings from posts and comments each week. EDS pays out every Monday evening. Last week the pay out was equivalent to 23%.

1. Check Progress

Each week, we're going to check in through this post and see where we are up to. Our target for today, 30 October, was 22.00p. Next week, we'll be saving 22.49p and by Saturday we'll have saved 482.80p (that's 48,280p just compounding a penny a day)! 😁.

Each week, I'll be buying Hive for @susie-saver's account with the pennies we've saved.

Here's this week's results - 22.00p buys 28.132 Hive. 1000 Hive powered up in 44 weeks and the remainder invested in EDS and EDSM! Plus we're earning 3.22% inflation on powered up Hive, 20% on EDSM, 23% on EDS tokens and a little on curating and posting!
