Ever since the beginning of the pandemic, the covid-19 that has changed our life forever, I've been watching how people are changing and adapting on every level. It's been five months since then and it's obvious this pandemic won't end soon and even if there will be a vaccine, there's still a long way to go till we get rid of it. Call me naive but I'd like to believe we'll get rid of it one day. How soon? That is the question here and no one has the right answer to that.

I'd say it all depends on us. Us as ordinary people, us as scientists, sellers, buyers, doctors and so on. We all have a part to play in this, a duty and the better we perform, the better the outcome.

The government is a key player in this game and started to adapt from the beginning as it had no choice. When I say adapt, that doesn't necessarily mean they did the right thing and chose the best solution. The first move they did was to get rid of the procedure companies have to go through when participating in public acquisitions. This has meant to simplify the process but we all know instead of that, it gave the possibility to crockery, big time. Milking public funds has been going on forever. Now that the procedures are simplified, who is going to stop this? No one, obviously.

Small Companies

Small companies has been hit hard. Some were forced to close down for good right at the beginning, while others are still struggling to find a way to survive.

Even if life goes back to the old normal, which I doubt it will happen anytime soon, one should never take it for granted. This should be a lesson and every business should revise their long term plans, strategies. Situations like this should be considered and plans should be implemented accordingly.

Some companies I saw could adapt to the new situation right away. A pharmacy for example has ordered two doors with two windows and was serving customers through these windows for a whole month or so to avoid contamination by crowding in people. Other businesses that were unfortunate enough to have their shops in shopping malls, (we all know those were closed for a longer period), opted for pushing sales online, even offering free shipping and considerable discounts, so they can survive. Delivery businesses paired up with restaurants, food shops and worked together to make ends meet. Agricultural farms started to make home deliveries as all the markets were closed.

I think it's time for unity and collaboration. Sometimes it's better to do your own business, without being tied to another company or business partner but when times are tough, some help may come in handy. For small businesses it's time to invest in marketing and infrastructure. Next time a pandemic strikes, at least they have a way to sell their products.

Hive

I see hive as a very interesting game I've been playing from the start. It's not a source of income for me yet, more like plan B, or better yet, a backup plan, an investment. An investment of my time, knowledge and skills that I'm trying to maximize here while having fun (sometimes :P). I'm taking this very seriously as managing my finances is not a joke. It's a real opportunity to get some savings for rainy days.

How many users I've seen here blogging about the hardship the pandemic brought to them. I'm not talking about those who are here only to milk the platform complaining all the time, hoping people may upvote their shitpost and make donations. Those are not worth mentioning. Imagine having some $$ in your wallet that can help you get through tough periods. That can be Hive for many of us.

I'd like to see more people powering up and supporting others on hive and less of those who are here for their selfish reason. It sounds like a cheap slogan but together we're stronger. I believe in hive and I'm here for the long run.

Adapt And Survive

This applies so us, hivers as well. Life is changing on hive, you can't say it stays the same as there's always something new, devs are working on making this place better and better. Ok, some think they are working to make things better for themselves only but let's not get into that now.

What I'm trying to say is we all have to learn and adapt to any new situation in order to make this place work. Some don't care about the financial part or just don't understand it. It's not easy but can be learnt. If I could learn it, anyone can, that's what is think. Obviously you don't have to do that but it's good if you do it right as you can grow and help others grow in the same time. It's a great opportunity for us, let's make the most of it. It can be a life saving one day.
