HBD Interest Payouts for December 2021
I can't believe we are already in 2022. Time flies. 2021 has been great year for HBD. An old idea of a blockchain token pegged to USD and backed by the network itself, has received the much needed attention and revision. It started with an experiment and a proposal by Smooth to stabilize HBD with an @hbdstabilizer. That turned out to be a successful experiment. While it helped stabilizing HBD, it also earned significant profits for the Hive Decentralized Fund.
In March of 2021, witnesses decided to start paying interest on all HBD. Later this was changed to pay interest only for HBD in Savings.
Then Blocktrades team worked on a Hive to HBD conversion and implemented these new changes with a new hardfork.
The APR initially started out with paying only 3% interest. Then it changed to 7%, then to 10%, and finally in December it went up to 12%. This is super generous of the Hive blockchain and the witnesses. Can of the traditional banks compete with this? lol, probably not. This might even be the highest rates paid for any stable coins too.
The USD peg is also has been working much better than we ever saw in the past. Yes, HBD price is not always exactly at $1, but whenever it goes higher or below $1, like a magnet it is getting pulled back to its peg a lot faster than before.
There are also talks of various projects to use HBD APR in their future developments. LeoFinance was discussing an idea just recently to add HBD to their CubFinance defi platform, and let participants use HBD in defi and also receive interest payouts. This sounds very interesting.
New upcoming Ragnarok game has plans not only to use HBD for in-game purchases but also utilizing interest payouts for the game economy. Here is what they say how HBD will be used in the game.
After every battle, your Gods or Titans do not recover health, so if you enter a battle with low health characters from the previous battle, they will also have low health in the new battle. You will need to heal your gods & titans using potions/herbs, which cost HBD.
The game will have armor & a weapon system that adds passive stats & abilities to equip the NFT's. You can level up the weapon tree of your choice, each coming with different skills & abilities. All weapons will be mineable NFT's that come out in Ragnarok, but they will require repair kits that cost HBD.
There will be in-game food that is a must to have, or your gods start to lose health. Food is only consumed during battle & comes with stat boosts based on the food provided. Food cost HBD.
The game will have many HBD sinks. The HBD is sucked into a "blackhole" via the SIP v1, where it will be locked away to earn interest in perpetuity.
Just amazing. This and other projects will create more demand for HBD and come up with creative ways of utilize it. There are many more interesting to come, it seems.

In March total interest payout was 10,429 HBD to 6415 accounts.
In April - 12,208 HBD paid to 7106 accounts.
In May - 16,574 HBD paid to 7250 accounts.
In June - 36,883 HBD paid to 7167 accounts.
In July - 1,696 HBD paid to 682 accounts.
In August - 5,646 HBD paid to 1062 accounts.
In September - 2,570 HBD paid to 1129 accounts.
In October - 4,914 HBD paid to 1239 accounts.
In November - 10,931 HBD was paid to 1482 accounts.
In December total interest payouts and accounts continued to increase.
Total of 19,004 HBD was paid to 1655 accounts in December. December ended up being the month with the highest interest payouts. Way to end the year. I am very optimistic about HBD and what it offers as a stable coin and an investment asset.
