Since discovering LeoFinance, I've been doing some reading back down the list, and whilst the crypto stuff is interesting (and I'm enjoying learning), some of the posts about building income though community engagement have chimed with some thoughts I've been toying with for a while. But not necessarily because I'm looking to 'make money' per se...

I'm an amateur musician with a small audience. I've been casting about for a place to try to build a small community around what I do. I'm on the verge of deleting Facebook - mainly as I think it is a force for ill in the world, but also (IMHO) it's not a place where small artists can thrive, so I won't miss it.
Twitter I get on better with, but it's not a place for cohesive discussion within a community.

I've looked at the dedicated artist sites, but they price themselves out for someone like me who (if you look at my music stuff as a business) makes a steady monthly loss, or just don't feel like a fit for an artist of my size. Did I mention I was small ;-)

I have a Website with Wordpress - and that was starting to be the focus of my thinking. Going a bit old skool, but I'd still need to get people there somehow.

Well by now, you'll see where this is going. Hive, with its communities, reward for content creation and engagement and some of the 2nd layer tokens is starting to feel like a nice fit. I think it's a place I could make a home in, maybe bring some new folk along and also, possibly, find a few new folk here who like what I do. It also lends itself to me picking up on some of the other creative things I want to start doing again, like writing. Easy to curate multiple things across communities.

And, with the opportunity to generate some income through engagement and rewards perhaps, just perhaps, I could cover my 'running costs'.

So that's the rough plan - not to engage to invest and nurture a compounding profit, but more to build a bit of a community around what I do in and across some communities, and see where it might go.

It sounds like a fine experiment to me. Much more attractive than chasing Instagram followers and Facebook likes. It feels more real

So this is a statement of intent as much as anything. I still need to have a proper think around some things - but JFDI will come into play before too long, I think.

I'll let you know how I get on.
