Blockchain DApp - HIVE and Steem

There are many HIVE and Steem Dapps now and also many new DApps are under development process - I want to believe that. What is DApp and how are the HIVE and Steem DApps going?

DApp

As the concept is still in its infancy, there might not be one definition of what a DApp is. But there are general common concepts about it. DApp, or a decentralized application, is an application whose back-end code runs on a decentralized peer-to-peer network.

Decentralized applications communicates with the blockchain, which manages the state of all network actors. The interface of the decentralized applications does not look any different than any website or mobile app today. The smart contract represents the core logic of a decentralized application. Smart contracts are integral building blocks of blockchains, that process information from external sensors or events and help the blockchain manage the state of all network actors.

In Which Blockchains do DApps run? DApps may run on top of distributed computing systems such as Ethereum or Bitcoin. Decentralized applications are stored on and executed by a blockchain system. Steem and HIVE created a well-established dapp ecosystem. DApps can be browsed on marketplaces such as State of the DApps, Dapp.com, Holdex, DAppRadar and CoinGecko.

HIVE and Steem DApps

Steem has developed or had from 3rd parties its various DApps. Steemit is a sort of main and backbone DApp that sometimes consider steem itself by the people who do not have much knowledge on blockchain or steem. And Steem Peak, steemcoinpan and Splinterlands are popular ones.

HIVE seems to have smaller number of dapps than Steem. But the quality of dapps are getting improved with many developers. Now some of new dapps are under development process and could be released soon.

List of Steem DApps(or Interfaces) I captured this HIVE and Steem DApps ranking list from dapp.com and stateoftheapps.com. Still it is not so clear how much I could believe this data. But several popular sites mention this site as a sort of one of DApps portal site.

    There are total around 27 dapps. Social and media apps take the majority. Some Dapps are listed came from Steem blockchain. Peakd and Hive blog top positions.

  2. Steem: In terms of 30 Days of Users Source: dapp.com

    There are total around 100 dapps. Some Dapps are listed that already moved to HIVE blockchain. In terms of 30 days Users, Steemit take top position, for 30 days transaction Splinterlands is top position. Many game or gamling dapps take high rankings. Beside this list, there may be others such as zzan, neoxiancity, Marlians etc. I didn’t know that this lots of Dapps Steem ecosystem has while just have used total 10 Dapss up to now.

Many DApps developed and then disappeared without any proper notification. It may be the time to make clear reliable DApps for communication and transaction while makeing robust ecology to cheer up good trilal to make creative DApps.
