A Passive Income

Passive income is income that requires little to no effort to earn and maintain. It is called progressive passive income when the earner expends little effort to grow the income. Examples of passive income include rental income and any business activities in which the earner does not materially participate. - Source

As a former full time freelancer/business owner looking for various ways to earn more, I often tried affiliate marketing. On SEOClerks though, the largest SEO marketplace in the world, (which also happened to be one of my clients when I worked with brand building), affiliate marketing is different. Or should I say that their affiliate program is different than others.

First of all, I earn 10% of all orders, for life. So if I get someone to sign up and they order something 5 years from now, I will still get 10%. Secondly, some sellers can offer a higher percentage. Let's say they offer 12%, (which is rather common), I'll earn 12% on the order and those extra 2% comes directly from the seller.

On top of that, I also have the opportunity to give away $5 coupons for free, to anyone who signs up using my referral link. The coolest part is that I actually get 10% from that as well.

When I worked as a seller/freelancer on SEOClerks, I tried to promote my referral links here and there in an attempt to generate a passive income. Fast forward and I have 1128 affiliates.

These affiliates have bought services for a total amount of $25600.

Many of my affiliates are inactive, but I still to this day generate an extra income from these affiliates. The amount obviously varies a lot. Roughly, I would say that I earn anything between $15 and $50 per month.

That being said, I have the highest ranked account, or user level on the marketplace. That gives me some extra benefits. For instance 2% extra on all affiliate sales, but I also earn 2% extra on all sales. That is obviously a nice little bonus if I were to become an active seller again.

Each user level have a different badge, and as someone with the highest user level, that comes with a cool badge but it's also means that I am a great user in every single way because you can only reach this user level if y ou are manually selected by the staff of SEOClerks. X level users are the elite, and I'm an X5. You can't beat that.

That basically means that I have the highest reputation you can get, so that is a huge sign of credibility and stuff like that. And, it definitely gives you a superb potential to grow you business in case you're looking to become an active seller again. You could also always promote your ref-link to get more affiliates.. There's huge potential with this type of account.. It comes down to how you would handle it. What you would do with it.

Long story short, this is finance, so I figured I'd let you think of these numbers a bit, before I ask the question:

  • How much would you pay for this account, if you bought it?

The statistics is accurate and I would obviously prove that as well, but I was just thinking about how much it would be worth for someone looking for a 100% passive income of this type. With the exceptional potential to further utilize the account to expand your business, grow your clientele etc.

I have cashed out $29761 in total and I have more than 678 positive ratings and 1 negative. 99.9% of the customers recommend me as a seller. I have 5 out of 5 stars. The account is from Jun 18 2012.

It's against the TOS to sell accounts, but for fun.

  • How much would something like this be worth to you?
  • How would you calculate the price for this type of account?

Does the potential and history of the account matter to you, or would the actual income be the only thing you based the price on?
