One of the great ventures of Elon Musk is Starlink, a company of the group that provides high-speed internet based on its satellite network that according to the latest figures reaches more than 1,300 satellites that are already in low orbit around the Earth.

This interconnected system is in operation in the United States and in some European countries, in several of them still under the Better than Nothing Beta modality, availability was also announced some time ago for several Latin American countries, including Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, and some others. The corresponding subsidiaries have already been registered in several of them.

According to Musk, it is not something that replaces companies that offer internet services in its different versions such as cable, fiber optics, and even satellite, it has always been said that it is designed mainly for those rural and remote areas where the necessary infrastructure does not exist to offer the traditional service today essential for many human activities.

A few days ago a friend who participates in various ventures and an NGO that helps low-income people in the interior of the country told me that he had been researching Starlink to bring the internet to an indigenous community in northern Argentina that lacks several essential things. The year that has just ended allowed them to complete the plan to provide them with electricity through solar panels, now with this basic service fulfilled, another stage becomes possible: providing them with computers and internet for the school.

The prices of the installation kit and the monthly subscription are relatively affordable for the NGO and they are likely to adopt the system if the geographical area allows it, but for residential users in areas with high-speed internet access this possibility is impractical. not so much the cost of installation but the monthly subscription that is quadrupling the price of any internet company currently operating in the country.

I also found out that a small but nice drawback has arisen to the antennas offered by the company for home installation, apparently, they radiate heat and in cold areas are used by some small animals to warm themselves, a user from the United States took a picture of his antenna Obviously in a very cold and snowy place, and inside the plate of the same five cats seem to be very comfortable and warm.

It is not known how much interference cats can cause in the satellite system but you know, if you want your feline not to get cold in the freezing winters, you will have to pay $ 99 per month, in addition to the installation of course.
