This motto was used by Uruguay for a good part of the 20th century and it was due to the textual quotation of those words in an article published by an American journalist towards the end of the 1920s and which was later exploited in the other's small country. shore of the Río de la Plata as a promotion to attract investment, tourism, and industrial development.

Regarding the article, it mainly referred to the fact that at that time Uruguay behaved differently from the rest of the Latin American countries that were at that time immersed in great social and economic changes, it probably also made a comparison regarding the size of its surface and by not having major conflicts of any kind. More here in time, many Argentines and Brazilians also saw some similarity in the area of ​​investments and banks, although it was always somewhat exaggerated and had little to do with the tradition of stability, privacy, and protection of data and assets of the small Central European country.

During the governments of Cristina F. de Kirchner, many Argentines began to see our neighbor as a possible destination to work and live, escaping the convulsion and conflicts that were taking place here at that time. In those years, formal job applications grew enormously. a couple of years later and as a result of the Venezuelan diaspora that questionable record passed into their hands. Now, with the return of Kirchnerism to power again, my compatriots are looking with sympathy to go to live in other countries and Uruguay is one of the preferred destinations due to its proximity, language, and similar idiosyncrasies.

Obviously, the title of the Switzerland of America always exceeded what Uruguay could offer the world, hard years of crisis, coups and terrorism also came for the calm and friendly inhabitants, for a time it lost its way and its drive, although, for some time For more than four decades, it has resumed the path of institutional strength and economic stability. It is advancing at a slow but steady pace and perhaps in some time, it will be able to use again, this time with greater authority, the label of being the Latin American country most similar to the Helvetic Confederation.

Unlike Uruguay, investments in cryptocurrencies are growing strongly in Argentina, a few days ago a compatriot friend who has lived in that country for many years and is dedicated to growing soybeans, told me that several compatriots are settling there thanks to the ease of managing your crypto assets from anywhere and to the significant benefits obtained in the last year due to the growth in the price of bitcoin and the rest of the currencies.

This friend is beginning to enter the exciting world of cryptocurrencies and I am helping him a bit. The development and use that has been exploited here are not yet in sight there. The Uruguayan citizen is more calm and traditional, he takes things calmly and they are not desperate like us; they do not have inflation, they can acquire foreign currency freely and their economy is relatively stable.

However, they are already talking about regulating the fledgling crypto market with the ever-present idea of ​​looking like Switzerland; They are seeking to develop avant-garde legislation, with the aim of tempting significant investments in this industry by offering a stable, serious and credible place.

Obviamente el título de la Suiza de América siempre excedió lo que Uruguay podía ofrecer al mundo, vinieron años duros de crisis, golpes de estado y terrorismo también para los tranquilos y amables habitantes, por un tiempo perdió el rumbo y el empuje, aunque desde hace más de cuatro décadas ha retomado la senda de la fortaleza institucional y la estabilidad económica. Avanza a paso lento pero firme y quizás en algún tiempo pueda volver a utilizar, esta vez con mayor autoridad, el rótulo de ser el país de América Latina más parecido a la Confederación Helvética.

A diferencia de Uruguay, las inversiones en criptomonedas están creciendo con mucha fuerza en Argentina, hace pocos días un amigo compatriota que vive en aquel país desde hace muchos años y se dedica al cultivo de soja, me comentaba que varios compatriotas se están instalando allí gracias a la facilidad para manejar sus activos criptográficos desde cualquier parte y a los importantes beneficios obtenidos en el último año debido al crecimiento en la cotización del bitcoin y el resto de las monedas.

Este amigo está comenzando a introducirse en el apasionante mundo de las criptomonedas y yo lo estoy ayudando un poco. Todavía no se vislumbra allí el desarrollo y la utilización que, si ha explotado aquí. El ciudadano uruguayo es más tranquilo y tradicional, se toma las cosas con calma y no están desesperados como nosotros; no tienen inflación, pueden adquirir divisas libremente y su economía es relativamente estable.
