June and July were good months in comparison to August, which saw a decrease in all metrics. A week into September and action has taken an even sharper decline. Next month's report could be an interesting one and not one to boast about in the record books.

It's nice to have a sales report on blockchain to review and as such, this post is the second in that series. Below is the link to July's report and I'll follow with another each month.

Algorithm Updates And Blogging Frequency

Besides these two factors to take into consideration for the declining traffic on FishtFight.com, we're also entering the off-season for offshore fishing.

Throw that into the mix of unprecedented small business bankrupty and shakiness over an upcoming election. It's really a blessing that August's sales saw any profit at all.

Amazon Affiliate Sales

Reports are easy to produce using Amazon's Affiliate Center. Apologies if the image comes out small from the screenshot on my cellphone. Below shows all metrics for the month of August through my affiliate links.

As you can see, the report provides a graph and each metric is listed below in explanation. The graph shows:

  • Number of clicks on affiliate links (These are people going from my website over to Amazon) = 832

  • Ordered items = 55

  • Shipped Items = 54

  • Returned Items = 0

  • Conversion = 6.61%

  • Shipped Items Revenue (How much Amazon made) = $1993.91

  • Total Earnings (My commissions) = $64.34

Earnings from July were $80.70. That represents a 20.27% decrease in profit. It's typical for this time of year but concerning nonetheless.

Another nice feature that Amazon reports provide is a list of all the items that sold. I forgot to include this in my first report. Items show up in the report as text but each one is also a link to the product itself.

There are times I click to see the full product description when I'm not sure what sold. Amazon has a one day cookie on their affiliate links. This means after a person clicks one of my affiliate links, anything they buy off Amazon the following 24 hours earns me a commission.

Amazon offers other metrics such as Link Type Performance. This shows which kind of links (text, image, combo) bring more sales. There's also a section for product suggestions based on what your viewers are searching for.

August Ad Revenue

Revenue from AdSense helps boost website earnings, though some argue they're intrusive. I used to have only one Ad per post, but I've since given Google the reigns to place Ads in suggested areas around the website.

It's funny, I actually thought something was wrong viewing my website yesterday because none of the Ads were appearing. Then I remembered I was using the Brave Browser, which prevents such Ads from showing.

Anyway, you can see an extra $25.53 in Ad revenue from the report below. This metric is also down from July, which brought in $33.45.

Content & Engagement

Websites need a ton of love and care to make them successful. It takes a lot of hard work. If I don't much of anything else, concentration on these two items can't fail to increase earnings.

More quality content will bring more traffic. Search Engines don't rank websites as well if they stop publishing. Content also helps increase engagement. Here's an area I do ok in. Comments do come a few times a month.

Perhaps a forum for anglers to ask questions and have discussions will be in order one day. Another great thing about a website is you can take it any direction you want.

Thanks for reading and as always...
