Last week I posted that I was planning on building an investment into RUNE, the native token of the Thorchain project. I figured I am one week in, and have received my first staking payout, so it's a good time for an update. If you missed my previous posts, you can find them here:

  1. I bought some RUNE today

  2. Building my RUNE stake

A chart to begin with.

Chart Source: [Coingecko](https://www.coingecko.com/en/coins/thorchain)

A consolidation week for RUNE after a big run up in the last 6-8 weeks. RUNE's market cap is very similar to HIVE, and it is currently rank 92 on Coingecko's market cap rankings.

My investments:

I track each days investment, and note were the money came from. Most of my HIVE income this week went into RUNE. The first buy in was from FIAT, and the last (just after the staking payout) came from some stray BTC I had.

Anyway, I am pretty much square for the week, and have earned my first staking payout of 0.68 Rune. I plan to keep buying a small amount every day, for a while to build up the stake. It's been interesting to see just how much HIVE income I do generate, having put USD 38.69 in directly from HIVE. I will reduce how much HIVE I sell in a couple of weeks, but in the meantime, almost all available funds will be used. None of the HIVE is from powering down, its just my income being sold.

So, there you go, week 1 of RUNE collecting is done for me, I managed to move to 1667 rank out of 1787 total staking wallets. Also want to thank @shanghaipreneur for tweeting out my first post. It gained a bit of external interest, including a re-tweet from the official Thorchain account. Shows that we should not just post about HIVE all the time, and that sometimes content on other topics can bring more attention to HIVE than just writing about HIVE all the time.

Anyway, stay tuned for more updates on my RUNE investment if you are interested.

Cheers,

JK.
