Money: The First Reflection

Reflections are something I do, to keep me abreast of reality and the current position I might find myself, 2022 is hours away, and sometimes we find ourselves asking questions "did I hit my target"? When it feels like we didn't, we often bask at that moment of nonachievement thinking of how it can be better.

This has always become a cyclical process, a series of similar feeling, influencing our prospective action. Whenever the year is actually coming to an end, people revamp their plans, reshuffle it, and they mostly do this from the angle of the places they actually think they have failed.

However, this isn't bad, sometimes the feeling of correcting the mistakes of the year one's about to leave, narrows down how far their explorations can actually take them. For example, some are never satisfied with how much money they've made in a year, the fact that they feel they could earn, makes them think they can even earn more money than they have, creating a feeling of dissatifaction

They try to tweak a few things, maybe try new skills, while this is good, the essence of reflecting for me, personally is basking in my accomplishments irrespective of whether how small they are. My growth in 2021 has been astronomical, I like the fact that I moved from the "survival-esque" type of guy, to establishing some kind of permanence, both in how I make decisions and how I take risk.

It's been a blessing to know people like @joetunex and @whatamidoing. For Joe, I learned the socio-economic aspect of life, where decision-making could of course influence how far a person can go in life. His life for me became a lesson, I subconsciously learned about moving out of Nigeria and how the excitement of finally leaving a crumbling economic state as Nigeria can be dampened by over expectations.

Knowing him has taught me that my aim to leave Nigeria shouldn't be blinded by the fact that other countries have real world issues that needs for the opportunity cost to be totally weighed.

The Invaluable Non-monetry Aspect

Let's not take away the sociocultural aspect, the kindred spirit of meeting and knowing another goal-getter as myself has been great, of course I wouldn't omit the fact that he inspired, took time and showed me the ropes through splinterlands and even if it's totally been an experimental process for me.

I love the exposure to further prospects of streams of income, the future is uncertain, but mostly, we usually agree that it's probably uncertain in a positively promising way. I usually don't set goals for any new years, some unfortunate incidents have happened in my hive experience lately, and I've found myself meandering from the goal-setter I was, to a more plausible person.

I have found out that being emotional about crypto can blind a person from seeing the bigger picture. This is something I learned from @whatamidoing, he's probably opened my eyes to the fact that, the social experience of a community; a blockchain like hive, could forestall sustenance.

It's been a rocky year, especially when I realize that, I could have lost my life to the stress and chase and the grind for some mindless real-time prospect, called a degree. I've always found myself drifting away from objectivity, but I'm glad to learn that it's difficult to fly without breaking wind, encountering difficulties and problematic situation.

Many people know the name; @Josediccus, but they don't know the man, behind the name, it's crazy and exciting at the same time. @selfhelp4trolls is someone that has been there, on and off the chain, I may have not deserved all the attention, but I could say he experienced the epic moments with me and it has been a blessing in disguise.

I like to say, people are part of accomplishments, inasmuch as we extol money, more crypto bags, more holidays, more NFTs and all, people are a major accomplishment because sometimes, they're the life-changing exposure we actually need to become even better people.

All Round Harmony

That said, I'm satisfied with 2021, I won't say I hit or didn't hit my targets, it's beyond the targets and milestones for me going into 2022, it's more about seeking off chain sustainability for me, the balance and all. This has come as a result of my reflections, weigh the opportunity costs and rebalancing my scale of preference likewise, I'm happy to keep my life as well, despite undergoing arguably the worst period of my life.

Off the chain, it was horrible, but on-chain, I show up every day, do what I love doing and became a different person entirely. That said, I've come to learn a lot about hive, I mean..... Haven't we all? It's not all roses and velvet, it's been a marathon of excitement of "highs and lows". At the end of the day, the year has blissfully come to an end, and by far, i'm grateful for the little "wins", the people and the change. That said, I'm looking forward to Ragnarock
