I found this beautiful old photo still in my phone since shot back on January 2019. My android phone is now ancient technology in electronics years and it wasn’t even the top, second or even the third of that generation phones at the time.

It’s just one example of the cost saving decisions I made scrutinizing my expenses and getting what features that are necessary with an almost barebones plan. We don’t have to get the latest. And to keep saving my buying power in off the grid assets. My carrier knows my phone is old so I am often being offered a new phone deal.

Speaking of saving, many wise Stackers in my past recommend paying off outstanding costly debts before diving headlong into action with my Stacking plan. A wise point to consider since there were cases of Stackers that have fallen into hard times and end up liquidating their holdings to make ends meet often selling at a loss. It’s a real possibility since the Fed’s objective is to keep Inflation under control at the expense of jobs.

If I was strict about it, I could pay off my home repairs cost expenses balance in 16 to 18 months, and that is with practically no stacking while rebuilding my Emergency fund at about $200 to $300 per month barring any unexpected new repairs or expenses. While my $13k of my $14.5K of my (GEF) General Emergency funds are depleted I had still segregated aside $1,500 for my (EMF) Emergency Medical funds. With my roommate having cancer I should double that.

As a Veteran Stacker it would be the prudent plan. But no.

I still want to stack at least a coin or two per month.

My Stackitis is far too advanced to go cold turkey and I am not going to sell any of my Crypto assets to fund it either. If it extends my debt out to two or two and a half years, I’ll take that bit of a chance and my choice to make. Even If I may be on disability, I’d still have some budget wiggle room.

If not, well things ca change, I’ve managed to survive worse decisions in the past.

Show more silver? Sure.

This week’s silver was my last Stack for 2022 but scaled back 75% from my original plan holding back a few hundred CAD should a surprise silver Boxing Day deal pops up from any of my Retailers. Silvergoldbull got the nod with a decent Cybermonday deal discounting 10% from their retail prices. Both @punkysdad and I combined our orders to easily make the $300 free shipping threshold. While he got some more 2016 Snow Falcons, I loaded up on the Britannias that turned out lower priced than the Maple Leafs.

I think the security features of this version of the Britannia are top notch within the scale of function and utility as a legal tender coin. The feature like the wave pattern blends into the artist further emphasizing the United Kingdom’s storied naval history. Cartwheeling this coin in a good light simulates a lovely wave motion. The Privy mark shifts from the Image of a Trident point to a Padlock as the next dominant security feature.

Repeated around the inner border are the micro text “DECUS ET TUTAMEN” Latin for ‘An ornament and a safeguard’ is a clever reboot of an old coining practice applied to the edges of early milled coins to discourage filing off of metal from the edges under weighting the coin. And finally, Britannia’s shield is faithfully emblazoned with the Union Jack that is textured in fine lines rather than a plain finish. These make this edition of the Britannia extremely difficult and costly to feasibly counterfeit. Though I will still test them on my CCT Neodymium magnet test slide.

My original plan was to add more Silver Maple Leafs to my core stack, however I am always drawn to the history of the Trade dollar. Not just that the Britannia is a testimony to her mariner merchant past but also a connection to a part of my family tree such that I had to have a few of the original British Trade dollars in my Stack. The added value of security features are the icing on the cake that makes this purchase a good move for me.
So now I got this thing for Trade dollars.

So are there any coins that connect you to your ancestors?

Adding CyberMonday Silver to my Stack for that big Stormy day!
