ETH is usually deposited using Hive Engine or Tribaldex. What if both (or MetaMask) are iffy? Visit WLEO.IO instead.

Background

In November 2021 I discovered how I could deposit outside money using Hive Engine. In January 2022 I discovered how to do the same thing using Tribaldex. Most deposits were made using either Bitcoin or Litecoin.

In February I made my first purchases of CUB. This meant I needed to first buy BNB. What ETH I had wasn't working for me, so I used it to buy BNB before I could use it to buy CUB at Cub Finance.

My Troubles

Last week I sent ETH to Hive Engine using Tribaldex. Tribaldex let me send ETH from my Web3 wallet, and I sold the SWAP.ETH I was given for an equivalent amount of SWAP.BNB. It's at this point when Tribaldex began giving me difficulties: Tribaldex wasn't-- --recognizing my wallet; --reading my balances; --reading anything.

At various points I tested Tribaldex using both MetaMask and Rabby; Tribaldex was iffy with both. It occurred to me then that the MetaMask extension could be corrupted, so I backed up data before uninstalling and reinstalling MetaMask. I tried again using the reinstalled MetaMask; my troubles persisted.

I needed other solutions.

THORSwap to the Rescue-- Uh, No

THORSwap is known for letting people trade cyptocurrencies across blockchains natively-- no wrapping coins first. I wanted to sell ETH on Ethereum to buy BNB on Binance Smart Chain. THORSwap would have been perfect for this task.

Only THORSwap wasn't picking up my wallet either. It was also slow.

I needed another option. I found it.

💡 https://wleo.io -- WLEO

While reading a post @shortsegments had published over a week ago it occurred to me that I could use the WLEO web site for Wrapped LEO to go from ETH to WLEO then LEO, but from there buy SWAP.BNB. From that point, it was the rest of my original plan.

Normally WLEO is used to allow ETH holders to buy LEO, and that LEO stays in the Hive Engine wallet for staking or other uses.

Also, LeoDex doesn't normally accept deposits of outside funds; that's what the Hive Engine DEX and Tribaldex handle. However, the WLEO web site converts WLEO to LEO, and the various Hive wallet interfaces show the LEO. So I also discovered how to deposit ETH using the WLEO web site.

In my case, the LEO was an intermediate step in going from ETH to CUB; my problem was depositing the ETH. Thanks to the WLEO web site, problem solved!

(@shortsegments-- check your LEO wallet.)

Mission Accomplished. Really!

Sure enough, the WLEO web site worked in the same way as Hive Engine for non-ETH assets. ETH-WLEO-LEO-(SWAP.HIVE)-(SWAP.BNB)-BNB-CUB was the path I took to use ETH to buy more CUB to stake in the Kingdom.

Even after Tribaldex treats my Web3 wallet normally again, I will use the WLEO web site as my vehicle for depositing ETH.

Just My Two Sats

Applications can get loopy, and dApps are no exception. If it isn't one thing, it's another.

Between Tribaldex and MetaMask, I was at wits end-- but I pulled out a solution which worked. Normally used to let ETH holders invest in LEO, the WLEO web site let me deposit ETH so I could buy what I really wanted to buy.

If anyone else encounters a similar situation, consider using the WLEO web site if you have ETH to spare.
