Hi there my Hivean friends and followers!

At the end of November, in less than 3 months, I will be celebrating my 4th anniversary here on Hive and one of my original goals was to celebrate this milestone with a freshly achieved orcahood. This "marine life hierarchy" dates back to the old days of Steem where an orca was a community member with Hive Power between 50,000 and 500,000 (lower than that is a dolphin and higher than that is a whale). So yeah, I was hoping to reach that long awaited 50k HP milestone soon but I have just changed the plans a bit and since a powerdown is also involved, I felt like I should write a few words about it. I don´t have to explain anything, I know, but I have been known as a very loyal and dedicated Hiver so I think some little explanation might be expected from me, at least by my friends and followers.

I must say it felt very strange to hit that power down button and it was also the very first time I have actually done it, I mean except the Steem power down that we all did when we were leaving Steem and moving over here to Hive of course. The good news is, however, I am not going anywhere and I am not going to withdraw all my Hive. Not at all. I will probably use just a few of the first weekly batches and then I will stop the process and start powering up again. The reason is simple. I have been really dedicated to Hive over those years with no other jobs, living mostly off my savings. But these will soon be gone and even though my lifestyle is very minimalist, I still need to cover a lot of things in the real life so the current increase in the price of our token seems like a great opportunity to finally monetize a bit of all the effort I put in Hive over the years. This step will also allow me to continue what I have been doing here. If I didn´t cash out anything, I would soon have to find a job and that would leave me much less time for my Hive activities. And that´s something I don´t want to give up on. I still want to be an active and helpful member of this amazing community as I absolutely believe in its enormous potential and bright future.

So no worries guys, I am not going anywhere and I am not going to reduce my Hive routines in any way. Quite the opposite. I will step up my game and try to be the living proof that Hive can be the place where people can make their livings through what they love and enjoy. Keep on hiving guys. I cannot wait to support your blogs with my orca votes next year ;)
