Lots of people are scared to take a risk because of “job security”, they are scared to take that 3X salary job because, they are not sure of the sustainability of the company and they feel safer with their current working position. I was talking to a friend who said he can never be an entrepreneur because, he feels safer working for someone and expecting a monthly salary, which I can totally understand. This is just one scenario, let me tell you about another friend’s scenario.

A friend got a job offer that is 2.5X better than his current job, but he just applied for his annual leave and he seriously wanted to take it because he couldn’t wait to spend some time with his family. If he takes this new job he would have to wait for another 12 months before he can apply for another annual leave. So he thought about it, and gave himself reasons he should stick to his current job and not take the higher paying job. After his annual leave, he heard rumors that the company was going to shut down, due to bankruptcy or whatever. Now, my friend is regretting he didn’t choose the 2.5X salary offer he had before, he is about to lose his job, his salary all for an annual leave.

The moment people start realizing that sticking to a company for job security over higher salary is dangerous the better for them. The place you are working is seeing you as their property, your ideas and intellect is their property, they can pay you off anytime, nothing is secured. If they find someone better than you or younger than you, they won’t waste time to lay you off. So choosing higher salary sometimes is way better than staying in somewhere for job security. At least with a higher salary, you can afford to invest in some other place. If anything hasn’t taught you better, you should consider the current crypto company staff lay out.

Lots of crypto companies laid off their staff this year, most of these staff might have worked for these companies for over 1 to 5 years, now imagine giving a company that amount of time because you trusted them, and felt safer with them. But these companies didn’t waste no time laying off their staff for the safety of the company. Look at what Elon Musk did to the Twitter staff after buying Twitter, fired must of these staff especially the previous CEO. Some of these people must have gotten better offers but felt safer with Twitter, besides, they have been working with Twitter for a long time. But when Jack Dorsey and the rest wanted to sell Twitter, they didn’t consider the staff. At the end of the day, it’s just business it’s nothing personal, so while take jobs personal and reject better offers because of your sentimental attachments with the job. You can only have sentons attachment if you own it or have a share there. But if you are doing it without these, you are just risking your time.
