I'm glad I didn't sell the one Crypto Raider I bought a couple of months back for the princely sum of 0.04 ETH as I found out yesterday that I got an airdrop for holding on to it!

For each cryptoraider held CryptoRaider hodlers received....

  • 666 RAIDER (the 'governance' token for want of a better word, sort of like SPS)
  • 6666 Arum (the utility token, sort of like DEC).

Both of these tokens pumped early on after the drop, which I missed, but I can live without another 'time the top and then when to buy back in, if at all dilemma' and now I've got what I've got what I got, which ain't too shabby.

New staking options....

There are staking options with the Raider token for which you can earn ARUM, and you can pool RAIDER for an increasing term with a longer lock time - I pooled two thirds of mine with a 12 month lock for a 180% APR, and I swapped a sixth for MATIC and pooled with that, and I kept another 6th liquid.

I'm just holding onto the Arum for now.

Character Minting Options

I also missed out on the first second gen crypto raider minting event - at least by a few days, so it wasn't yesterday or anything, but it's only the first event, more to follow, and I'll be paying more attention over the next month or so.

It's now possible to 'stake' crypto raiders with Arum to mint another crypto raider! I would have needed 10K Arum and one Raider 'staked' to mint a new one, so I'm hoping to have accumulated sufficient Arum for the next event, although I guess it's going to be more than 10K for round two!

Finally got around to playing

I also finally put my solo raider into the dungeons for the first time, having found out on Discord that you can't die in the first two dungeons, so why not, and I picked up some artefacts.

The gameplay isn't up to much ATM - there's no real game, your character just wanders around the dungeon picking and has a chance to get loot. takes < 1 minute per raid.

You can only raid 3 times in a day, so I'm waiting for cooldown to end for the next raid!

The raids give your character experience and you can equip them after with the loot, the idea is you make your character tougher, to give them a better chance of surviving the monsters which will be in the later dungeons.

It's all in the Discord

I wouldn't have heard about the 'not dying' thing if it weren't for Discord, and the folks in there have been very helpful, along with links to the staking pools for the new tokens

Blink and you miss it

I feel like I've missed out on a decent minting opportunity, as second gen characters are selling on Open Sea for more than a $1000, but only the decent ones: there's a declining probability of minting common to rarer new characters, also influenced by the rarity of your Gen 1 Raider.

Still, I've still ended up with around $500 of tokens, and I decided to buy another Gen 1 raider too, bit of a risk, but I had some ETH that wasn't doing anything very much!

You can buy CryptoRaiders on OpenSea - they are getting expensive, even the gen twos are going for 0.1 ETH, but if you are going to buy, I'd go for a gen 1, chances are utility is more likely to flow to them!

NB - you can purchase and play on Polygon, so fees are CHEAP!
