I'm getting out of Polygon: An unreliable, congested network and a Discord full of Scammers.....

If you look at the TVL trend for different DEFI protocols on Defi Lama you'll notice that Polygon is just about the only one of the T10 which has stalled over the last month:

My recent experiences with frozen transactions and my first interactions in the Polygon Discord today have left me totally unsurprised as to why Polygon is stalling.

I've made several hundred transactions on Polygon, via MetaMask over the past few months and I have tried a few different platforms such as Polycat Finance and Adamant and connected to Aave and ApeSwap via the Polygon layer, with my most recent experience being with CryptoRaiders.

I was attracted by the extra security in diversity that moving some funds out Binance Smart Chain gave me and the low fees also attracted me, however I think it might just be the latter that are now causing Polygon some problems, namely in the form of congestion, failure to estimated gas fees and stuck transactions.

I've experienced stuck transactions several times over the past few weeks especially - there's no real way to predict when this will happen, but if you forget to manually set your GAS fees to higher than what's suggested you're almost certainly in for a wait and then, after possibly up to an hour, a failed tx.

While the fees aren't a problem, the wait is: I really need my protocols to work - but these days on Polygon I get that tense feeling that I do with ETH - but with Polygon it's not the fees, it's the 'will this work' uncertainty.

It hit a new nadir today when I was trying to move some assets around to buy a couple of GEN 3 Crypto Raiders on OpenSea - early in the morning, several txs went through no problem, then, all of a sudden, one just froze at pending, and just kept on pending, and there was nothing I could do to kick start it - I tried changing nodes, resetting MetaMask, but nothing.

I got so desperate I joined the Polygon Discord, and on the back of that was DMd by not one, but two scammers who wanted me to sort out the congestion by entering my MM seed phrase into a website, err, no!

Besides that I got one other comment in the Discord pointing me that same node that someone had already pointed me to in the LEO discord 2 hours earlier.

Eventually I did a hard shut down of the computer and restarted and then changed node again (on three pieces of advice all pointing me to the 'right' one (but the other node I had been using had been FINE in the morning), and everything worked.

And now it's working you know what I'm going to do... I'm going to get all my non crypto raider funds the fuck OUT of Polygon.

Polygon was working just fine back in Spring and over Summer, but in the Autumn it's all just getting a bit glitchy - and I'm just losing confidence in it.

It's annoying that I'm stuck there with Crypto Raiders, but at least I can take all my stables and a few other bits and pieces out.

I need a DEFI protocol that works with 100% reliability, Polygon doesn't.
