What should I do with my Crypto Raider?

I bought one solitary Crypto Raider about a month ago, for 0.04 ETH on OpenSea, following my usual 'very cautious' alt-vest strategy.

NB 1.9 ETH isn't the current sell price, it's one persons' optimistic list price!

I bought on the ETH network but the game is now running, live on Polygon, to take advantage of the considerably lower fees and faster transaction times of this particular L2 solution.

Here's a link to the game

Cryptoraiders: The Gist of the Game...

You send your unique NFT cryptoraider into an AI Dungeon and he/ she/ it has a chance of coming out with various loot items (potions, weapons, wearables) OR of dying.

If you emerge from said AI dungeon alive, then you can either sell the items or apply them to your character, presumably making him/ her/ it tougher and having a higher chance of surviving the next round of dungeneering.

HOWEVER, if you die, your cryptoraider NFT gets burned and you receive a 'skeletal face NFT' in its place, some of which are already being listed for sale on OpenSea...

I haven't played yet, but apparently you can see the chances of winning loot or dying before you enter the dungeon.

ATM dungeons reboot every week, but there are plans to expand this and to soon have 'evergreen' dungeons which can be raided multiple times.

This video offers a nice little run through of the game play...

The Characters

There will be a total of 7500 base crypto raider cards ever minted and there are five different character types:

  • Humans (6000)
  • Elves (1200)
  • Dark Elves (100)
  • Cyborgs (100)
  • Skeletons (100)

When you buy a base character (you can get them on OpenSea via ETH or Polygon) they are all the same in terms of abilities, you are just buying on looks and rarity at this stage.

The chances of characters surviving dungeons are entirely down to the assets you attribute to them following dungeon raids.

So what should I do with my CryptoRaider....

I bought one solitary White Elf...

Now I wish I'd bought three (then again you never know, I may have got rugged) - one to play, one to sell for 10-20 times and one to sell for silly silly money.

But I only got one, so I'm now wondering what price point to put it on the market at..... Hmmm, I'm thinking just below 1 ETH and keep a tight eye on in case this market goes parabolic.

I've no intention of playing, I mean it's dressed up in a cutsie way but I may as well play Epic Dice or some other type of gambling Dapp with some non NFT rather than risk this unique NFT in what is basically a dice roll.

I'm not expecting this game to be a long term hodl, it's got a feel of 'short term craze' about it - it's just a matter of timing the sell-point right!

To find out more you might find the Cyrpto Raider Discord helpful, then again it might just be full of people making RIDICULOUS price predictions.
